The Passing Of David aka Hameister

I felt like I knew him even though I never met him... I remember laughing when his thread surpassed the valve guide thread, and continued and continued. What a character, wish we could have met, God bless his family

I am truly shocked and saddened to hear this news. Hammy was witty and smart, but more importantly, it was obvious that he was a good and decent man. Rest in peace, Hameister.

Condolences.
My first thought when I saw the title was this is some kind of black wheel joke and Hammy finally came to his senses and got chrome for that GS. If only that were the case. Thanks to whomever posted to let everyone know what happened.

Hammy, my heart breaks for your family and friends ... those who know you best and love you most. They are in my prayers.
I am among the many here who have enjoyed your witty and articulate prose, your playful (and sometimes sarcastic) sense of humor, and your passion as a fellow Corvetter. We will all miss you.

When I read the first post, I hoped that Hammy was kidding us all. But then, as one after another poster came on, and no David to tell us it was an early April joke, I was truly saddened. His fun posts, serious posts and helpful posts were always welcome. I read them all.
As ruxvette, RC4G, csf, R&L, Huskerman, duckvett, have all said it better than I ever could.
I am positive there are family, friends, former colleagues---all of whom will miss him dearly.
I can only hope this thread is an example of just how much people cared about, and respected David even tho many have not met him in person. I have several emails from him to recall his wit, insight and candor.
The above is meant just as csf said and EVRose commented, "funny how the internet can do that."
Rest well, Hammy-David and thanks for being here for us. I hope we were as good to you!

Rest in Peace
What makes the forum great is the comradarie and David did more to build it than any other thread I've read. Like many, I never met him in person, but like many we shared quite a few cold ones.
