Didn't work out.

The very first step to recovery is to distance yourself from the drug. Being locked up would have definitely accomplished that whether you liked it or not. Believe me you get used to it.

Hey guys let's keep it civil here. Agree to disagree . This thread is about a guy who impacted our life in a positive way and brought laughter to the forum for you all. Save the arguments for a different thread please.

Sorry to hear.

Make a positive out of this loss whatever it may be.

It could have been me at one point. It could be anybody.

My fiancee has a daughter struggling with opiate addiction/lying/theft/jail/can't keep a job... you get it.

Take care. hang around. We all have our foibles.

Sad news, but he's now at peace.

Yes, you have to want help and be ready to accept it for the help to be useful to you.

I told him by PM several times that I would get him into the residential rehab program where mrs. savewave and I do volunteer work. No cost to him. He wasn't ready and seemed to think he could manage without committing to a full-time rehab program.

Very nice of you - - I'd had similar PM exchanges with him but he was always workin' the system and was in total control . . .maybe the only one he was fooling was himself?

RIP

I never met him or knew him but just from reading his posts and constantly arguing with him over this matter I knew he could NEVER manage it himself and unfortunately predicted the outcome.

Yes, he always said he was managing and didn't want to have to give up his job to enter a residential rehab program. When you think you are in control of your addiction, rather than your addiction being in charge of you, your mind isn't right for rehab.

Anyone wanting to toot their own horn, or dance on the grave of our departed friend should either keep it to themselves or find another outlet. Maybe you didn't like the dude, but at least have the decency to respect him enough to take that crap somewhere other than the thread announcing his passing.

Rest in peace Mr. Nubain. I'm sorry we couldn't help you sufficiently to win your fight with the demons that came upon you.

Me too man, was thinking about his character doing my workout this morning. As others have said, he looked like the typical whey protein shake tofu eating trainer at many gyms in perfect shape. A book and it's cover doesn't mean anything.

And what did he have to lose by trying it, oh just his life.

I can't say by reading his posts he impacted my life in a positive way or was all that funny. He was very transparent about his addiction and confident about his control and gaming rehab, family, friends, along with most OT members.

Personally, I felt more sorry for him really. This forum witnessed first hand the life of a heroin addict and how to ruin your life. What a waste, he seemed like a very smart and personable guy otherwise.

Sad really, feel sorry for his parents and those he used and hurt.
