Hey guys,

Sorry haven't been on here in ages..

Trip is still on, getting very close now. Still trying to get measurements on the boot space of a C6 convertible if anyone can help us out.. also can someone tell me how much room there is behind the seats to stow luggage? ie laptop bag, camera etc..

also, since the vette is the only car in the hertz range that does not have sat nav, can you guys suggest a good cheap sat nav hand held system to buy when we arrive in the US?

cheers

Brett

Sounds like a trip of a lifetime! Before you head out of Miami and head north, detour a little to the south and visit the Florida Keys. Take a cruise across the 7 mile bridge...it's a great drive across some fantastic scenery and a great photo shoot. Take care and have fun!

Awesome! It will be a great run down there. The keys are a fantastic place to visit. You will see what I mean...don't forget to drop into Margarittaville, say hi to Jimmy Buffet, and have a few refreshments!

Keep us posted on your trip...

Can't advise on much of the above, but the route you will probably take takes you south of the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. But if you are headed to Colorado, I guess that will do for mountains!

Hope you have a great trip!

G'Day Guys, I am from Perth also and am currently in Houston working on a 1973 Vette and am heading home from Houston very soon. (End of January). As you already have a laptop why not do what I did and buy a garmin GPS receiver and software from Best buy or Circuit city and the updated software to go with it. Cost was around $216.00 and you have a big screen to navigate off. Australian software and downloads are also available when you get back to Perth. The people here are fantastic so enjoy your trip and stay safe.

Sounds like a great trip. Without question make sure you see the Grand Canyon. You can drive up through Sedona and see some of the best of Arizona. I can also give you a route near Phoenix that is frequently used by GM and many of the Car magazines to test cars. You will be passing through that area so let me know if you want specifics.

I'm in Tallahassee and if you fella's are hanging here for the night, I could show you around town. I might make you feel a bit at home as I currently have a GTO.....Ahem.....Monaro.

I can't help with the measurements but I suggest anything made by Garmin for GPS. I have the 650 which is great. A freind has the 200 and it works just as well for 1/3 the price (about 200 bucks). At the end of your trip you can probably sell it on ebay for most of what you paid.

Hey guys,

Well it's been 10 months in the making and blast off has finally arrived. We fly out of Perth this Friday and our 5 and a half week adventure begins..

Thanks for all the suggestions/advice etc it's really appreciated.

Found out the vette comes standard with sat nav so that's taken care of. (hertz staff didn't know how to read the codes apparently)

We have 5 days in NYC (going to a rangers game and a nets game while there), then we fly to miami and pick up the vette and hit the open road...

Will try to post updates here along the way, if not will do a write up with plenty of pics etc when we get home...

cheers

Brett
