Default Hello from Michigan!

Hello everybody! My name is Joe Chuhak and I am the new proud owner of a 1997 Corvette. Arctic White with a John Greenwood effects package on it, replica Z06 wheels. Just put new Goodyear F1's on it the other day. It had Firestones on the front and old Goodyears on the rear. I kept the fronts to sell off and put all new tires on it.

I have always wanted a Corvette. We had a dealer here locally who has sold Vettes for years and years. Holt Auto Sales. I used to drive by there with my dad when I was a kid and just stare at the huge line of all different colors they had out front. They closed up shop and I have not seen much of them since until a couple weeks ago. I was browsing the net looking for a nice car to buy and I told myself I might as well get the car I have always wanted. I was on a classic car sale site and it linked me over to Holt Auto Sales and their new website. Come to find out they just moved to another location.

I called and made an appointment to go and drive a sweet Yellow 74 that had just been restored. Tons of mods to it and it drove fantastic. Never really got to drive too many of them before and I did not remember just how small the inside of the older vettes are. I am 6'6" and my knees were almost half way up the steering wheel......umm nope. Drove a 77 too and I kept hitting the blinker with my knee. Yeah the older ones are just too small for me.

I was figuring a C5 was out of my price range and low and behold he rattles off the price and I could do that no problem. Very surprised when he told me $17,900. I took it for a test drive and fell in love with it. It was sooooooo much more comfortable to drive. I have to start digging into it and see what other mods are done to it. I am having to kind of dig around until I find things.... It has just rolled over 46K miles. The clear Targa top is so awesome.

I go next week to get the new stereo installed. I am putting a Clarion receiver in it and yanking the Bose system out. Putting in all new speakers and installing a custom box in the rear deck for a single sub. Going to install a 5ch amp so run everything.

I found a nice used set of Coverking seat covers the other day on Ebay and got a set of Floor Mats coming.

Once some more mods get finished I will post up more pics! Nice forum you all have here!! Glad to be here. It took me 40 yrs to get my first Corvette but dang it I GOT ONE NOW!!! haha

Not sure, my neighbors would know. I can find out if we have a good population of them or not. They are big hunters and hunt all kinds of game. I have been out of the hunting scene for so many years having a son with SMA and is in a wheelchair. Gave up hunting when he got confined to a chair.

I will send you a PM when I get some info for ya!

Thanks William!! Simply put it is phenomenal. My last nice car I had was a 1968 Chevy II Nova and I sold that when we had our first child. Now fast forward 20 yrs and I have driven a lot of stuff since then. I was a Beer Man for many years and drove commercial semis. I had a custom 1998 pickup with 40" swampers on it and since 2004 I have my Chevy Express AWD handicapped van for my boy who has SMA. But nothing and I mean nothing has come close to the happiness and thrill I get being behind the wheel of my Corvette.

I don't think my wife gets it. She thinks its crazy to just want to drive around but I told her it is the experience behind the wheel that gets you hooked. The comfort. Seeing all the rubber necks as you drive by. This car is my child hood dream of owning a piece of American history. Never could of thought I would own one this nice for my first and now I cannot wait to get a C7 someday and give this one to my other boy Zane.

Good times!!!

Took the top off today and cruised around for the first time in the open air. WOW, what a feeling. Went to Team One Chevy today and ordered another key, mine only came with one. I installed my new GM Factory floor mats and Coverking seat covers today. Oh man, my Vette is on my mind 24-7.....

Stopped by Shaheen Chevrolet yesterday and saw someone taking delivery of their new White C7. Just about floored me. Sooooo beautiful. They had a couple really nice C6 ZR1's too.

Pretty neat I can stop dreaming now......haha!! Now just dreaming about what I can do to mine next.
