It was a galaxy far away and a long time ago... I bought a basket case 1964 Corvette Convertible that the previous owner had disassembled and then couldn't figure out how to reassemble. I brought the car home in my van with the body and frame flat bedded.
I worked on cleaning, identifying, painting and reassembling parts until other projects crept up. One of them was tearing down my house and rebuilding it with an addition. A long story. An even longer story involved getting rear ended in my work truck by a distracted driver going highway speeds. Six years later after 4 surgeries with a lot of physical therapy, some titanium parts and a very understanding wife I am finally able to start working on the Corvette again after many, many years.
I manage about 1/2 hour at a time, then I have to rest a bit. Bionic parts but still working out the kinks. A lot better than 6 years ago! The accident put me into early, unwanted retirement. My wife decided that my new job was to get the Corvette on the road.
The car is by no means a number matching car. It does have the correct 4 speed, rear and frame. Originally was a 365hp 327. Beyond that, its a crap shoot. The engine is a 350 4 bolt main. The car was originally Riverside red with a white roof but at some point it was painted what I call refrigerator copper tone brown. Black rug and dash, white door panels, arm rest and seats.
I found this forum as I was pulling out my hair trying to figure the correct routing of the parking brake cables for the rear drum brakes. I found Jerhofer's outstanding thread and read every tantalizing detail but alas, he has rear discs. Still looking for my answer but I'm sure I'll be referring to Jerhofer's thread frequently for other answers.
Been on other car forums and know the value of the Search button. Can't wait to read and search more of the forums.
Hi King,
welcome to the forum. I grew up in Clark and now live in Bergen County. Let me know if you need any help with things. I get back to Clark every few weeks to visit my parents. I'll be getting a hardtop with a car that's coming to me in a week or so. I may be selling it off, so if you are interested in it, let me know.
Thanks,
Ken

Thanks Ken. Thanks for the offer, I'll let you know. What are you getting? Let me know when you get the car, I wouldn't mind seeing one that is more together than mine!
