Thank you! You've some amazing looking Vettes and your C7 is the most gorgeous that I've seen! Must be the Velocity Yellow convertible that does it for me. I read your newbie story and I share a similar story. At the age of 16 my 1st car was a 73 MGB conv. with 4 spd Manuel, so I cut my teeth on having a sports car W/stick shift. Later I had a Fiat 850 Sport Spyder W/4 spd Manuel. Then for decades all I had was automatics. My last car was a brand new 01 Chevy Monte Carlo SS Galaxy Silver complete with NASCAR inspired rear spoiler & ground effects trim pkg. had it for 11 years. Then I retired 3 years ago and decided it was time for THE all American Sports car. So I started shopping all last winter & Spring but it all came to a halt as I needed a complete left shoulder replacement, May 4th. So after a couple of months post op the search was back on. I really was thinking paddle shift automatic as I didn't know if my left shoulder would be healthy enough to stabilize the steering wheel alone while shifting. BUT, I started remembering the great joy of the past Manuel shifting, having complete control of the car all in my hands and feet, so I switched my search to only Manuel 6 spds, plus conv. with the Nav center. Never thought I'd like yellow but this Velocity Yellow just reached right out and said, "Yeah, this is the one"! As it turns out, the original owner had only yellow Vettes dating back to the 70's! Wow! Owning a Vette is like owning no other car period! Getting back into a Manuel shift was just like I'd never left. It came back so very quickly. Now when I drive my Chevy Trailblazer its sooooo boring... I'll be a Vette owner for life! The comradeship is outstanding when driving by other Vette owners, waving hello or thumbs up. THAT never happened with any other car that I've owned.

Awesome story... Great that you have also been rescued from driving automatic cars that are best described as transportation. I love my Corvette's and driving them everyday makes all other cars that I own and have owned... pointless. Now if they only made a truck and a four seater.

Thanks Yes, and it melts all worries and cares away once you start to roll on down the road.

It is impossible to remove the grin that a Corvette plasters on your face daily. Be careful and drive safe!

Had the chance to hit 159 mph on recent road trip... Was too busy to take a photo and severely disappointed I did not break 160 mph was delusional in thinking I could hit 180 mph, but had to slow down as I ran out of open road and almost ran into a stopped GT3. Oldest son has me smoked as he has driven his 177 mph... You need a lot of open road as acceleration in a C7 Z51 slows dramatically at around 140-145 mph. And slowing down from high speeds safely requires lots of space. Whole experience makes me dream of a C7 Z06 or a C7 ZR1, more HP needed am I going mad?

GT3RS behind me hit over 175 mph in same space so I am thinking it has better gear ratios for high speed. Also he is a much better driver than me.

At Spokane County Raceway we drove 130+ mph down the straight away which was a lot of fun. They had a drag strip as well that we got to make some fun runs down... I lost 1/4 miles to a V12 Lamborghini, a 1000 hp Audi RS7(0-60 in 2.3 seconds AWD launch control), and a Porsche 911.

Corvettes are amazing road cars, track cars and drag cars. Crazy as it sounds we did all 3 in one day. Definitely one of my bucket list days checked off.

Back to everyday driving for me and having trouble behaving on the road after my epic 6000+ mile road trip. Avg mpg for me now is around 10.5 when I used to get more like 14-15 mpg. I averaged about 8-9 mpg at the track.

Whoa! That's pretty brave! Was the C7 pretty stable at high speeds? Was that the fastest that you've been in one of your Vettes? Nah, you're not mad at all...I've only had my C6 for 1 month now and I'm already dreaming "What would a Z06 or ZR1 with 700+ HP feel like?" I hadn't told the wife yet lol. So far the fastest that I've been in my C6 is 110 mph on the first weekend. Out running a vicious storm that was close and we were 3 miles from home. The wife said, FAST ENOUGH...plus there was a bicyclist on the road and you never can tell where they're going right.

I'm beginning to think that Vettes are addictive and it becomes a sickness, in a good way mind you, to want more HP, more speed etc...
I have noticed how I'm beginning to shift at a little higher rpms thru the gears just to listen to the motors roar. AND of course watching the mpg slowly dropping as well. I started out @30 mpg, 25 mpg and now 21 mpg lol. Your C7 auto Trans?

That was a pretty awesome day at the track that you had!
I'd love to be able to open up my C6 to see what the top speed is.

I've been seeing more and more C7s on the road this summer. A pretty blue convert yesterday and a beautiful velocity yellow convert today.

The fastest I have ever driven in a car was in my old 1989 Infiniti Q45... I was young and thought I was invincible. The car was supposed to have a top speed of 153 mph. I frequently hit 165+ mph and went 172 mph max driving between Las Vegas & Southern California and thought nothing of it. The vehicle was heavy and stable. I went thru multiple sets of tires as the high speed ones typically got 10,000 miles. When you would run this car hard near the end of the tires life I would frequently see my car with multiple flats after it sat for 30 minutes after the drive.

The fastest in the vette to date is 159 mph. Wife was in the car and not terribly happy with me. At 140-145 mph you can tell you are going fast and you are happy that your car has Aero down force as it starts to feel like you could actually peel off the earth.
