Default New Vette Owner NE Ohio

My young son wanted a Corvette. Well I bought a 50,000 mile all numbers matching 1982 Corvette. We live in Northeast Ohio on the Lake a few miles east of Cleveland.

We began the resto-mod last summer 2016. We removed the body from the frame and put the body in storage. We stripped the frame down and boxed up the pieces. We have recently got the engine back from the machine shop and will be putting it aside. We will be replacing it with an LQ4 from a 2003 Silverado. Hoping to start re assembling the frame soon.

Good luck with all the modifications you're going to do with that '82. Should be a pretty interesting project.

Default Continued Disassembly

All suspension components stripped by Auto Metal Paint Strippers in Bedford Ohio

Axel and Half Shafts beginning disassembly

So I wire wheeled the frame degreased it three times acid etched it and placed two coats of POR and one coat of enamel. Not happy with the POR it scratches way to easy.

Control Arms before disassembly

Rear trailing arms before disassembly

beginning disassembly for powder coating

continued disassembly

front suspension components disassembled.

A little update now that the weather is getting nicer. I sent the suspension components to be stripped and they are back.

Default Engine Back from Machine Shop

Going to keep this engine, its original, but going to place it off to the side

Metals Crankshaft in Cleveland Ohio did all the machine work on the engine.
