HOLY COW!!! can't wait for this!
Howdy everyone-so, short story long. Me and my 2 now teenage boys have restored 2 vintage mustangs over the past 6 years. GREAT fun working in the shop, going to shows, being in a club etc. Well, about 1 1/2 yrs ago we had a little property dispute with a neighbor-had to come up with a pretty good chunk 'o cash quickly, so unfortunately had to sell the vert. Kind of a sad day, as we had a ton of time and money in her, but we made a small profit, were able to settle the dispute, and were actually able to buy a mint 05 miata from the orig owner who had knee surgery (yep, it was a stick!) to put in the garage and give us a fun little summer cruiser. well, for the past 3 months i have been thinking that i was missing the sound and feel of a v-8, so started reading for hours and hours on the forum (from the vintage mustangs, i learned that the forums are THE place to get help for sure!). So i have about 4 pages of notes with what we are going to start to look for. Today was amazingly sunny (rare in the PNW in Jan) and i found an 01 at a lot. So, just for kicks i drug the wife out to take it for a spin (we have never driven a vette), so figured we could go yank around a salesman for an hour and not feel bad about leaving! Car was nice except for the Lambo doors the PO had installed-yikes! Took 3 or 4 times of slamming the door to get things sealed up. anyways, all i can say is WOW!!!! I mean, I've been in some pretty quick cars being in a mustang club, but this was crazy!!! My wife's eyes lit up when we got back and she told me the miata had to go, and that we needed to get a corvette. I was really impressed at how stinking fun that car was (and a little scary-with the 6 speed it was a little too much adrenaline). SO much power and responsive. The sound...sheesh, i'm going to soil myself! So now we will be on a serious hunt! So looking forward to taking our time and finding the right one for us-sure i'll have some questions as we get closer that i haven't found the answers to yet, but man am i excited and i can see why everyone on here is stoked about their cars!! Thanks all for listening to me babble-still a little jacked up from the test drive!
