Late last year I bought a1979 Vette with an L82 motor.
When I test drove the car, it wouldn't hold an idle and ran very rough.
After I brought it home I found some vacuum problems, to make a long story short, I ended up removing the California emissions on the car due to the vapor canister was scorched along the side of the canister, as if someone lighted a cigarette next to the vapor canister.
I replaced the OEM carb that was a quadrajet with an Edelbrock 650 cfm.
Everything was performing good until recently.
I set the timing at two degrees above TDC and adjusted carb at a lean mixture.
again, everything was fine with it until this morning
It started up fine but when I started to drive the car it started sputtering and eventually died out on me.
It then was very hard to get started once again.
I noticed that I am blowing carbon out of the exhaust.
I'm thinking that I put to large of a carb on a stock motor and should go down to at least a 500 cfm carb if not lower.
I admit, I'm not very mechanically savoy and honestly, it had been a very long time since I have played with the old school fuel systems.
Looking for suggestions in regards to what I should do, any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

I know it's a 350 motor but there is a special connection between the VIN number and my birth date that makes the car my little 320.
Thought I would explain in advance.
Again, thanks for any help

Thank you AE
I probably should have added on my thread that I replaced the modulator for the transmission shortly after I got it with an aftermarket product.
it malfunctioned on me pouring transmission fluid into my intake.
I replaced the modulator but didn't think about the damage it may have caused to the spark plugs.
Could it be possible that the plugs are fouling out so badly that it is causing my problem and not the carb?

Thank you Gilhully, I'm finding owning my first Corvette to be an awesome experience so far, regardless of some issues I'm experiencing but we'll get through it fine.
looking forward to meeting Corvette owners at events this summer to get some good strong advice and learn more things about Corvettes.
Hope to meet you and others at the events.
