C4 of Year Finalist (stock) 2019
First-time C4 Owner
Hi everybody,
I bought myself a white '96 coupe a couple of weeks ago and have finally decided to quit surfing and join up since I've already taken advantage of the forums for RPO codes, possible upgrades, and (embarrassingly) help figuring out the parking brake.
Quick story about getting the car: I started a new job in the beginning of June, and sometime within the first week or so it showed up at a used lot across the street from my office. Waited a month before I talked to the seller about it, but the price was high and the wife wasn't a huge fan of coughing up a garage spot, so I backed off. It disappeared for a bit shortly thereafter so I let it go...only to have it pop up again a couple of weeks later. Somebody'd wanted it but couldn't get the money together! Another month or so went by and the price dropped to pretty much blue book value...so I went for a test drive, and that was that. As I told my understanding wife, "It's not my fault - the car found me!"
The car's got 127K miles, but she's been real well cared for and looks practically new off the lot (new interior door panels, seat upholstery, carpets, tires, nearly immaculate paint)...especially for a New England car. Runs great except for a little drift to the right which I'll need to get corrected before those new tires get beat up. It's pretty much stock except for a cat-back exhaust and supposedly a rear lowering kit...I have a invoice for it in the records that came with it and it looks like the rear sits lower, but I haven't done any research to confirm that yet. Except for being an automatic it's the exact car I've wanted since I was about 10 years old, when the C4s were the latest and greatest.
Too much information? Maybe, but I'm excited about the new baby. And it's growing on the wife, who has a hefty lead foot that probably shouldn't be allowed near anything with an LT1 in it.
Glad to be here!
