Hi Guys, my son now lives in Georgia and with his help we bought a C5 2001, 83K manual convertible - for an old guy like me a dream car. Yes, I have had sportscars before - my wife and I did all our dating travel in a Triumph TR3a - but this is something altogether different. Purchased essentially for a road trip March-May this year, about 7500 miles planned including some of Route 66 and the Grand Ridge Parkway. Some basic camping in parks but mostly motels. And staying with some friends we have met over the years. Have looked at having it shipped home but way too much money to convert to right hand drive. If you happen to see us meandering through your town, say hi and I will buy you a coffee.

Great looking C5 and welcome to the Forum. You will enjoy your Route 66 travel. I especially enjoyed Oatman, Az and the wild burros roaming the streets of the old mining town.

Hi Merv,
If you willing to park the Vette at your sons home until its 25 years old you can import to Oz without the conversion costs. This link might explain it better, mainly focused on the Japanese market. https://prestigemotorsport.com.au/fa...for-australia/
To say I'm jealous is a understatement.
Enjoy the drive

Thanks for the welcome and the good wishes for the road trip folks. Yes, I saw Oatman AZ in the video set on Route 66 so your comments Zachaeous make it a must see. And Neville, the Vette might be still sharp in 2026 but not so sure about me!
