Hello, this is Jerry Maness new member and I live in Salem Oregon. I rode motorcycles for many years and this summer when I turned 80 decided to give them up. My friends in my motorcycle forum said I should get a three wheeler. I replied “I don’t need no stinkin three wheeler” and promptly purchased a 2006 with 39,000 miles, with perfect paint and upholtery. It is I believe Malibu Red. I hope to learn a lot about corvettes from this forum as I did from the FJR forum. At age 20 I purchased a1959 Corvette, but had to sell it when I moved from Boise, Idaho to Salem. Have always wanted another.
Jerry - congrats on your C6 and welcome to the forum. Hopefully when I reach 80 I will still be able to drive a Corvette.
I can’t give you advise on how to drive a vette at 80, because it happened so quickly I was unaware of my age. One day I am a young guy and next day an old 80 year old. I am hoping to drive this corvette 10 years unless I get a newer model. We recently sold a home we owned in southern Cal and plan on buying a home on the Oregon Coast. We had the Cali home for 27 years and during that time spent 6 months in Cali and 6 months in Oregon. I played golf 5 or 6 days a week and walked 2 miles per day. Summer weather all year. I now ride a bike 51/2 miles weather permitting. So a little exercise may be helpful. We get long winded as we age.
