Pulled the trigger on my first Vette
Always been a Mopar guy owning a ‘73 Rallye Charger since I was 17. Bought it in January of ‘78 and still own it.
I completely restored literally every nut bolt and screw in that car learning all phases of mechanics and restoration along the way. Owned many other makes over the years turning wrenches on them right up to modern tech (and enjoying the headaches they can bring
).Now I’m also a Corvette guy
.Picked up a British green L68 powered 4speed ‘68 Roadster Convertible that was “completely restored” 5 years ago the left to sit in a barn for the last year or two.
Once again I’m reminded that “restoration” is a term that’s entirely up for definition by whose doing it.
With that said under the heavy layer of barn dust I found not a concourse restoration but a very nice driver but that’s ok.

In the 3-1/2 weeks I’ve had it I’m working my way down a long list of things that need to be done to make it not only reliable but safe to drive.
Im also refining it a little more as I go.
It’s coming along nicely though I have dropped in as a lurker here and there to get clues on those issues that I’m finding are unique to Corvettes. Never seen a car with so many vacuum actuated accessories.
Here’s a quick look at what I have...

Always nice to see the Tri-Power big block when you open the hood!

Theres definitely some new ground here for sure...
never owned a Vette...
never owned a convertible...
never owned a big block much less one with 3 carbs
...the only stick car I owned was a VW Beetle and I’ve only driven trucks with manual trans, not quite the same.

Looking forward to driving with my wife, top down along the shore on warm summer evenings.
Oh and ya, that tri-power is some eye candy .

(You might note that the decal reads 435 and not 400, that’s since been corrected)
