I recently became the lucky recipient of a 1969 L48 Triple Black Corvette from a friend that could no longer store the car and had lost interest in it. I've never owned a Corvette but had wanted one since I was a kid. The car had gone through a total frame off restoration back in 1986 and earned a Bloomington Gold Certification a month or so later. My friend bought the car in 2004. He let it sit in the garage of a house he owned but had moved out of and let one of his other friends drive it and show it on occasion. The house was sold almost a year ago and the car sat outside in Florida weather since then. The paint has a fair amount of blistering, cracking and fading but the car is in excellent shape mechanically and runs great.
With that being said, I will probably be seeking advice, over time, on sources for parts which will keep the car original and help keep the judges happy, if it were ever to be "re-certified", as well as help on How-To.
Needless to say, I am very happy I can be a part of this forum.
