Hi Guys - Have always had GM performance cars (mostly F-Bodies & my GN), but never a Vette. I've looked at a few over the years, but it just never worked out (mostly because I'm picky). Today I brought home my first! It's a 1999 FRC in Pewter Metallic with 17k original miles. I absolutely love the look of the hardtop and also love the understated Pewter Metallic paint. The lack of options is right up my alley also; manual climate control, no HUD, just a power seat which is nice. Car is pretty much perfect in every way. Drove it home this morning about 50 miles on backroads, which was nice considering there is snow in the forecast this evening and it probably won't see the light of day for a bit.
Car was maintained well even though it sat, but I'll go through it and do anything that needs doing. It did come with the original wagon wheels (which I actually prefer to the chrome thin spokes on the car), but thinking of either OE Magnesium wheels or OE Z06 wheels, can't decide.
Welcome, don't rush yet in changing it might grow on you, and have fun!
Thank you. Car will remain stock, but those wheels have to go. I'm a fan of chrome/polished wheels but I don't think they look great with the color. Regardless the car still has original tires on the front (Goodyear EMT run flats) and they definitely have to go. Figured if I'm going to change the wheels eventually now is the time. I may even go back to stock wagon wheels, for some reason they look OK to me on the hardtop.
Congratulations on a well bought Corvette. My first Corvette was a 99 FRC and I loved it so much that I fell into the trap of not driving it enough. Duh. Never again.
I agree with you and I love the looks of that model. I added just a few things, like cat back Corsas which added a nice non-droning sound and got rid of what I consider the ugly stock exhaust tips. I also added a carpeted barrier between the cabin and the trunk with a nice C5 emblem on it so that the trunk at least appeared more secure. Hey, the world is your oyster with your new Vette. Enjoy!

You read my mind...Already planning on a cargo divider and rather than aftermarket exhaust I may just go with a Z06 Titanium takeoff. I know they're not much louder, but I'm also not much into loud cars these days - guess I'm getting old.
Funny you mention not driving it. I have a bad habit of doing this. I am very picky when it comes to buying cars and always buy the cleanest, lowest mileage example I can, then I wind up not using it and keep it in the garage. Inevitably I then convince myself I don't need it and sell it on, vicious cycle it is. Since the C5 is so usable and nice to drive I really do plan on using this one. Luckily the pewter should hide a few rock chips here and there. I figure if I put enough miles on it then value won't matter anyway and I can just enjoy the car.
