GMPP Renewal News
GREAT NEWS
Just got off the phone with my GMPP contact and he looked into my question of why can't I renew my customers in California, Oregon, Washington, Kentucky, Maryland, Idaho-still not Florida!!
Well he found out some great news for you and me-I can renew your existing GMPP plan for you since I am nor are you my customer soliciting the purchase which they consider an internet transaction. So again especially my California customers I can now renew your existing GMPP plan, things have not changed as far as selling you an original GMPP plan(I still can't do that).
Send me your VIN, Current Miles and state of residence to dfichtner@fichtnerchevrolet.com for a renewal quote.
My direct line is 406-628-4618, Ext 105.

Dennis,
That is great news for us living in California. I am actually in the process of selling my C6 for a new C7; however, if things do not work out, I will contact you to extend my GMPP.
Now we need to fix the issue of you NOT being allowed to sell a new GMPP to Californians... I really like your extended warranty service.

They should be able to sell to California; it's just that they'll have to collect CA state sales tax on that internet transaction and they may not want to bother with that hassle.............

Sales tax has nothing to do with it, the California Dealer Association went to the insurance commissioner crying about not be able to sell their customers enough Extended Warranties so thus it became state law that you must have a California Insurance license to sell them. they made it an insurance product just like car insurance.

I thought that the U.S. had good anti-trust laws that would prevent zone pricing for things like GMPP....

No just the states of Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Alaska, Florida, Kentucky and Maryland.
Some restrictions in other states but as of the time of this post can still sell them in the other 42 states.

Is it still best to wait until just before the factory warranty expires. The policies used to start immediately, so it overlapped the factory warranty coverage if you purchased when the car was new.
Do you have a listing of current costs for coverage on 2014 Stingray?

Actually the best bang for your buck is to buy the GMPP just before you hit 12mo/12,000mi. Do you agree Dennis ?

This is especially important if you are buying a GMPP with a deductible. Your original no-deductible warranty will be superseded by the new deductible GMPP

BGZQ8-That is correct, so you buy an 84 month which is actually 60 months of coverage and it is less than buying a 60 month plan right before your 36 month warranty ends
woodranch-Sorry California is a no no for GMPP but wait a while something is coming hopefully in March so I can help you then
GlennM27-GMPP does not start coverying until your original 36/36 is up so your statement is not correct about you having to pay a deductible if you have one during that time frame.
I will be announcing the new ability to again sell in all 50 states in March(unfortunately not GMPP) but wait for my announcement.

I just bought a GMPP from you THIS MONTH and that's what you told me. My warranty was set to expire March 31 and I was buying a new 36month/24000/$50 ded GMPP. You said my $0 ded would vanish immediately when I bought this new 36/24/50 and suggested I wait. Since the car is in my garage with no intentions of moving until April I just went ahead and bought it anyway.
SO, from what you are saying here, my new GMPP will actually not start until April 1, 2014???? That's NOT what the paperwork from GM says that I just received...

Totally different rules when you renew an existing GMPP. You must renew an existing GMPP 1 month and 1,000 miles before expiration of the old plan no exception to these rules.
It is different when you are buying the original plan when the car is still under the original factory warranty(36/36)
