Yes the chimes work as long as you get the right wiring harness. The Pac Audio RP5-GM11 comes with a chimes module that attaches to the harness. I think you can also use the RP4-GM11 also. The only thing I lost was the navigation through the HUD, but that didn't bother me. Overall the new head unit is a big upgrade over the stock system. Makes everything a little more modern. I have more features than I can use and all user friendly and relatively easy to figure.

thanks for the quick reply.... so do the chimes and everything else work ok, I know the nav doesn't on the HUD but don't care about that.. I also don't care about Sirius.. Just getting tired with this old bose radio... appreciate the pointers if you have them, as I'll be moving to florida soon so I'll probably do this down there...

Hey Joe. I still really like the head unit. It is definitely my favorite mod. The only thing I'm not crazy about is my Sirius/XM reception is not great, but that has more to do with the fiberglass body of the Vette and my location. If you go with the Pioneer, there is a thread in the audio section of the forum with some good backgrounds and startup screens. If you need it in the future let me know I'll find the link. There is also an install tutorial thread if you need it.

Here is all the stuff I bought for my install. I got everything off Amazon.

1- Pac Audio RP5-GM11 wiring harness with steering wheel controls and module for chimes
2- Metra 95-3304 double din face plate
3- Sirius XM SXV300v1 tuner (optional if you want Sirius XM) and Sirius XM 10ft antenna ext. cable (if u want to re-use factory antenna)
4- Pyle PCNM38FRV back up camera (was only $17 but works great)
5- A pack of crimp style cap connectors 22/18 gauge and a crimp plier (since I didn't have one)

    Hi Joe,
How's it going? I saw you list a health issue in a post not too long ago. If I'm not getting too personal is everything ok?
Hope to hear from you soon,
