I am pretty settled in now. I still have a problem with the back up camera being input-ed into the back up camera AV connection into the unit. I either have a slight break in the wiring inside the HU wiring harness or a slightly bad connection inside the HU for this circuit.
The camera works like a champ being input-ed into the auxiliary AV input.
For now I am going to hold the fort as-is. Down the road I am going to order the wiring harness and confirm if that is it or not. I suspect it is.

All-in-all, a great mod. I love it. Its a great unit.
I completed a large cd copy session on to the hard drive (110 cd's worth), and its so nice not having to carry around cd's anymore.
We did test the Ipod connection and functionality and it works great.. fast to.
If I had the extra money I'd go with all the music stored on Ipod and leave it in the tunnel storage area. It ran a 1 year old touch Ipod no problem. I think the sorting and management of the songs thru the Ipod is better than the hard drive. Less work to.
But if you don't have the money right now for a ipod, the hard drive method is fine.
Just a lot more time to store the music (burns onto the hard drive a 4X speed and has to be in WAV format on the cd). Its also a bit of a pain managing the CD's as the burn in to ensure the sorting is correct (for example: if you have a cd which has 10 songs of multiple artists, if you search by artist and not album - you may hit a artist and only have one song under their selection).

I have not torn into it yet. I will probably start on it some time next week. I figure bye the time I get the unit mounted and wiring done my bezel and other interior parts will be here from carskins. Hopefully it will go smoothly with little or no headaches. I checked out avic411 to see what kind of info they had over there and seen that you had been there to and I read your post over there. Have you had any problems with your unit or is it working as advertised?

Thanks for all the info on the Avic install process.
