Had a ball and probably covered most of the emotions in the book. I qualified pilot in '72 but I probably made a much better fast jet nav than I would ever have done as pilot. Overall, wish I could do it again. best of luck with your career. Regards Dave

Haven't heard from you in awhile. Getting ready for the boating season yet?

The little story was sent to me about a Marine Pilot that flew corsairs and panthers, I revised it slightly.

The photo of your car at the Valley of Fire is amazing. Great light reflection.
And isn't the Valley of Fire unforgettable?

This was labor day weekend with Monday off so today is like Monday.

Your video was a good way to start the week. If they had the Top Gun music when I was flying I might have stayed in longer than 5 years.

I was beginning to wonder about the probe and drogue hook up with your aircraft. You have to ram it in there, no playing around with it.

The RF 101 G and H models our Guard unit flew were prohibited from probe and drogue refueling. Some structural concerns when these models were converted from gun toting A & C fighters to recon Birds.

But in RF 101 school we flew the RF 101 A & C models with both probe and drouge and boom capability. I got to probe a couple of times in school. Frankly I liked it better than having a boom operator poke around on my airplane trying to hit the receptacle.

But in 101 school an AF Captain managed to tear the drouge off our tanker and bent his probe up so bad it wouldn't retract. That was all the refueling on that mission. Fortunately I went first and had my gas and was watching the events. The drogue stuck on his probe for just an instant and then flew off, fortunately missing his vertical stabilizer.

The aircraft went into a steep dive with our instructor in the chase airplane yelling pull up pull up. Sort of exciting for the instructor and pilot. It's one of those little things that remain in your brain's memory bank even though it was 40 years ago. I can still see the drouge disappearing at 300 koots.

    Thanks for the video.
