save some for me!
I'd love to go out there and see some of the other vettes in the area and go out to the mountains and actually try and show off again this year, but if my custom painted and turbocharged vette is going to lose to a stock car, I dont think I want to waste the e85 and the money
Any way we can get a more "fair" judging system?

Judging and LGCA winners
I'm sorry you have the opinion that LGCA members win so many Show'n Shine awards. I respectfully challenge your perception.
For the past MANY years club member cars have been judged separately from our guests. This will continue in 2012. All participants will judge all cars but LGCA cars will be pulled out as judging sheets are reviewed. Effectively, LGCA cars only compete against other LGCA cars.
Our club members pay full price to register for Vettes on the Rockies so they like to get recognition for their cars like anyone else. We do not want our members cars to distract from all of our guests who travel many miles to join our event.
Make sense? Thanks.

I too have spoken with LGCA reps to question the change in judging. I have considered the VOTR show the climax for the year. They have run a superb job in organizing and judging. By far the fairest judged show that I've participated in within Colorado. I think they will regret this change but am willing to still attend and give it a chance.
FYI...one of the worse shows I've attended and will NEVER do again is TORCAs Denver Aquarium show. That was also participant judging and was literally club choices (the club with the most members present wins).

I agree with your comments YGOSLOW. Judged shows, with judging sheets, with host club non-participation are generally the most neutral and fair shows. Participant judging ends up being a popularity contest and the club with the most members ends up with the most winners. I have decided to go this year and participate; bringing both cars...we will see.

We really appreciate all of your comments and it's good to hear specifics about the problems that many have experienced with participant judged shows. Your feedback is giving us some ideas about ways to reduce the "largest club wins the gold" issue.
We had also heard from lots of folks who had experienced this type of judging and thought it was fair and turned out well. We had previously heard complaints from folks who felt the score sheets with independent judges had been problematic as well. Tough to please everyone.
If this doesn't work out as we hope, we'll probably go back for next year. Keep your comments coming. We are listening.

We appreciate your open mindedness on this matter and like a couple of us posted, we will give it a try this year to see if it works out.
More than likely your positive feedback is probably from other club members. For those that are not associated with a club or are "social' club members only (ie. RMCSC) we experience the negative affects of participant judged shows.
Hope Winter Park works out for you guys

Vendor Announcements
Some of the vendors for Vettes on the Rockies have been announced. At this time we are expecting:
Goodyear (sponsoring the Autocross)
Mid America Motorworks (sponsoring the Show 'n Shine)
Billy Boat Performance Exhaust
Adam's Premium Care Care
West Coast Corvettes
Spring Mountain
Dragon Pro Street Engineering
Townsend Retirement Specialists (sponsoring the Wine and Cheese)
APsis USA INC.
Associated Photographics
and of course our long time club supporter: Purifoy Chevrolet
We are expecting Purifoy and GM to bring several special cars again for display and review. We also expect a couple representatives from the GM Corvette group to be on hand.
The legal folks tell me I have to say that the aforementioned names could change at any time without notice.

Hey, that is great, good selection
Back to our favorite subject of the past few posts. Something to consider about the "participant judging". How are you going to cover the effect of having all of the cars mixed together? In the past, with judging sheets and classes, the competion was relatively fair, segregating modfied, years, etc. In perticipant judging, without a scoring sheet to tally and then awarding on points scored and the "street presence" category, you will have to have all of the cars displayed by class/year/category, otherwise the participants will have a problem comparing cars in the same class if they are scattered all over the place. It is not much of an issue with 30 or 40 cars, but when you have the hundreds that this show will draw, the cars will have to be grouped by year and judging category...think about it.

First adventure for most of us in the art of parking a bunch of cars in a big lot rather than just lining cars up first come first serve down the street. Should be interesting and fun!! Come on up early and you can watch the action. You might even get recruited to help.

Thanks for registering!
Thanks for registering Too-Fast. We are looking forward to trying out Winter Park. Folks up there are very happy to have us and since we apparently wore out our welcome in Summit County it is fun to be working with folks who truly want Corvette folks around.
When you get up there look me up. Ask the girls at Registration for Steve C. They will know where to find me. Would love to chat with you some more about your earlier emails concerning the judging and give you some insight as to why we are where we are so to speak. Might even recruit you for the 2013 event.

VOTR Registration
You've got to be kidding!
$190 bucks a couple to register and this Does Not include the Thursday night Welcome Party? Seems kinda steep for a car show and a Rally...
What exactly are we paying for? We just completed our 5th annual show, Corvettes for a Cause and for $95 a couple, it included a dinner at the welcome party, free beer and wine, Car Show, Funkana and a poker Run. Plus a free concert on Sat. Night.
Your big National events with your high price registration fees are keeping hundreds of Vettes from attending. Soooo-
What can I expect to recieve for my $190 Bucks?
