I don't mind the Corvette vendors, but I could use less of the "other" vendors. Or the vendors that rent space just to have room to park their camper. I get it, and I know they are paying for the extra space. It just ruins the flow of walking down the aisles.

Default Twin Cam Channel heads to Corvettes at Carlisle

Hi All,

We're proud Corvette owners here at Twin Cam Channel and last weekend we made a pilgrimage to Corvettes at Carlisle. It's a great event and the Corvette family is fantastic.

We took a look around the grounds on Friday and put together this brief video of the fun! Please check it out and subscribe if you enjoy it.

Cheers!

The BS of saving spots for friends who arrive late needs to stop.

Agreed. They really aren't allowed to do that. It has been a rule for years that you cannot use tape, stakes, or chairs to save spots. And after 10 a.m. anyone can park anywhere except reserved areas, even if your tent and / or chairs are there. Those rules are in the program (or were).

I don't see why there are vendors selling non-Corvette related items such as replacement bath tubs. Do they really need to be there?

Yes, the rules still stand. In fact we instruct our team to take down caution tape & etc. later in the day. First come, first serve

I don't mind them. If it's not something I'm interested in I just walk past.

If someone gets there on Wed and sets up a tent and doesn't move for 4 days, is that first come first serve?
In 30+ years I think I parked on the lower field once or twice, the rest of the time up on the hill. Because I didn't get there Wed or 6am Thurs morning and "claimed" a spot how is that fair?
No one is supposed to hold a spot, correct?
I see people in the same non reserved spot every year, for all 4 days.
This year I paid for a reserved spot, the only way I have a chance of getting anywhere near the lower field, meanwhile not 20 or 30 yards away the same people park year after year.

A person coming for one day should have the same opportunity to park on the lower field as someone who comes for the duration, imo.

Something is wrong here.

Getting to the Fairgrounds very early solves alot of these issues. I have been able to park in my favorite non reserved spot for 32 years, but I get there very early each day.

Nothing wrong here. Last year and this year were the first two times I've paid for a reserved spot. We've gone for 15 years and NEVER had any problems getting a spot on the lower field. Before it was 4 days, we'd get there early Friday morning , park, and put up our tent and chairs and let them there all weekend. When I say early, I mean 6 a.m. all three mornings. But I KNEW that if I didn't show up early like that, then all bets were off as far as someone else parking there. You can't show up at 10 or 11 and expect to find a spot on days with great weather. It's just a fact of the game.
The only reason we do reserved parking now is to avoid having to pay an extra day of the outrageous prices that the hotels are gouging us. Paying $600 and more for 3 nights in a hotel is beyond my means. So instead, I pay for the reserved spot, and can leave home early in the morning Thursday and get there at 10 and know my spot is there. And I'm doing it again next year.
Do the reserved parking next year and save yourself some grief.

Have you seen the demographic?

Oh and well because it's income on a spot that would otherwise be empty.

We heard on Saturday after the judging meeting that Carlisle was hearing a lot of complaints about this and was considering a nothing left on the fairgrounds overnight policy for next year.

im not sure what everyone is talking about the lower field being impossible to find a spot. I was there on Friday and Saturday and was able to park wherever I wanted. I was there at 7am. If you take your wife and you don't get to the field before 11am, yes you aren't going to get a spot up front. I go with my dad and we are up bright and early.

I was fortunate enough to get a Celebrity Choice award from Ray Ziza but missed picking up photo from grandstand on Sunday. Having trouble finding Photographer. Can you help?

I think what people are complaining about is when you show up at 9, 10, or even 11 and you're parking way over the hill, but then you walk through the show field and there are a dozen spots "saved." I know you can't save spots and techincally you can park in front of someone else's tent after (I think) 10:30. But, the guys helping you park direct you away from the lower field (because it's basically full) and honestly, I'm not the type of person who will park in front of your tent.

I don't see that ever happening. It would drive too many away because they wouldn't be able to allow the reserved spot people to leave their stuff and not others, and the reserved spot people shouldn't have to remove their stuff. I for one won't be taking my stuff down every night and repack my car. And others wont' be doing it either. They'd lose one heck of a lot of people. I would stop going for sure. All those people not going..............a loss for Carlisle Events, a loss for the town in the form of income at restaurants and a loss to the hotels. And if they make it for reserved parking patrons only, are you (not you personally) willing to spend the $150 instead of the $75 so you can get a spot? Just a bunch of crybabies who don't want to sacrifice a night's sleep to get there early enough for a prime spot. Or get a hotel room. Yeah, won't happen.

That's just my opinion, but some people bring trailers for their stuff, and they KNOW to get there early.

That would be what I would do were I in charge, except for those who paid for reserved spots.

Let the folks who put up a tent put it up every day at 7am, and see if they get the same spot.

Let me cry a bit more if allowed. How were all those vans and pickup trucks allowed into Gate 3? They weren't vendors, as I saw them paying at the gate while holding up the line.
