Default Connecticut Emissions ??

Anyone know anything about the new Connectiuct emissions inspections?

I'm thinking about getting TPIS headers for my 1989 L98 and eliminating the pre-cats but will it pass with the headers?

I have pre-cats with a gutted main-cat now and passed the old inspection without problem. With headers I guess I'll have replace the gutted main-cat with a new cat?

Hello, I am a Ct state emissions inspector. All we do is look under the car to make sure there is a cat on the car. If so we test the gas cap and then run your car on the dyno with a sniffer in the tailpipe.

Thanks Bozzman3 ! That sounds like the same procedure as the old test so I guess if you have a catalatic converter and are running clean you should be OK?

Thats correct ,a s long as there is a cat and your cars emissions fall below the limit you are ok. Now 1996 cars and above get a OBD2 test

You must have a cat installed. Your computer system must not be sending any codes out and your computer can not be recently cleared. The emissions machine will not give you a pass report if there is no history stored in the computer. Also your check engine light must come on when the car is first started.

How long before inspection is "recently"? The reason I ask is I routinely clear my codes with my Predator - but don't want to run afoul of the law if that's the case.

Thanks in advance

You wont run afoul but your test will be aborted.Ecms have a set of memory banks called readness mointers. Each readness mointer mointers a different circuit, such as 02, evap system, etc.If you have to many of these open then your test will be aborted. Usually a week of normal driving sets enough to go thru the test.I run the Firestone in Enfield 860-741-6550 ask for Scott

Hey Scott.

Looks like I may be over to see you this spring.

Just wondering what you think, 235,235 112 LSA cam, LG pro long tubes, Random thech high flow cats.

Could I have a problem with this set-up?

Thanks

Dave

Scott,

Thanks for the reply. I am working as project manager on a job in Houston TX and getting a little nervous about coming home to an awkward problem with CT emissions. When I bought this car it had no cats on it at all so I installed Random Technologies high flow cats trying to do the right thing.

Thanks for the info.

dave i've got a few cat h-pipes hanging around from header installs, may be able to let you borrow one for a day if the owner of the h pipe doesn't mind; only takes 15 mins. for the rem. and install; have lift
