I drove to Belmar beach this morning and it was packed!.
Electronic signs warning of heavy traffic this weekend due to the Belmar seafood festival Fri/ sat/sun 5/19-5/21.
Last year on at least on of the three days, they closed the town and police would not let anymore cars enter the town.
is Bar-A only for corvettes - or is it open to general public? Do they have a section for corvettes? I've never been before.
The bar is open for regular business. The entire parking lot (what there is of it) is reserved for Corvettes. Last year I went late and wound up parking a few blocks away.

Bar-A is open to all on Sunday but the Corvette Express event begins at 11:00 AM & the "beach crowd" doesn't show up until around 3:00 or 4:00. The parking lots are strictly reserved for "Corvettes Only" & there will be no conflict with the Seafood Festival. That event takes place at the north end of Belmar & the Bar-A is at the south end (actually Lake Como). Weather forecast is great....come early & have a great time.

Agreed: There won't be much beach traffic because it's still cold here. The festival may cause some backup on 35/ 195/138... but nothing like it was 2 years ago. In fact, they hold the festival earlier in the year now to specifically avoid that from happening.
Just get here early if you want to park in one of the lots. If not, you ll just have to walk a bit.
I would recommend meeting on Route 18 a very clean sweep down to Belmar no traffic. The GSP will be packed heading south. You can get off at exit 124 south (Sayreville) and swing around onto route 18.
I too was there! Thanks for the broadcast because I would have missed it. Was a great time and won some prizes too! Those burgers and hot dogs hit the spot and $4 Coronas made it all perfect! Nice group of Corvette owners! Please continue to post events like this. Thanks!
