Default NYC - One Night Parking

I live in NC and plan on driving to upstate NY next week to see some family. However, I need to be in New York City for 2 to 4 hours on Friday morning/afternoon to meet a friend that's in town from another country that I haven't seen in years.

Where can I safely park my '17 GS while in the city?

describe "safely"
actually depending on where you're going there are plenty of garages to house it in.... maybe throwing the guy a 20 or 50 may make him want to baby it when parking

NYC is a big place (in certain terms). Where are you meeting him? I may be able to suggest a parking garage.

Most parking garages in Manhattan are fine. If you are nervous, use a garage that is part of an office building (such as the Time-Warner building near Columbus Circle). If you are there mid-day on a weekday, be prepared to spend $$$ to park. Rates drop after 5 p.m. and on weekends.

What do you mean by safely?
If you want to park it yourself, your options are pretty limited, but if you don't mind someone moving it around in a tight lot, just like any 10 year old beater, then you have many choices.
There is only 1 lot I have even parked my Corvette's in in NYC - Brooklyn Battery Garage; it is a self park facility, and up stairs (floors 4-6) there are some really good spots where no one will be very close to your car.
There are two other self park lost that are at best okay: Manhattan Plaza Park 42nd St Between 9th & 10th aves, and one on 31st between 7th & 8th aves.
Otherwise, I would use one of the 4 star plus bigger hotels that have their own parking lot: Marriot at Times Square, Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton.

If you're on the West Side of Manhattan, there's a great muni garage on 8th and 54th Street. Across from the old Studio 54 disco. Midtown South Precinct (NYPD) is a couple of blocks away. "Quik Park" branded garages are all over midtown. I park in one every day on West End Ave, they take good care of my car. If you're near Madision Square Garden, just about every garage is fine. I say garage, not lot, indoors is always better...to me.

It's just a preference

Park it in NJ then rent a car or take a ferry and cab to your destination in the city. Cheaper, safer and faster. Is your car lowered?

Don't drive in NYC on a Friday during the day, take mass transit.

Park at secaucus train station in nj and take the 8 min train ride to penn station. At secausus you park your car where you want in the lot.

I had a garage curb the wheels on my old golf bad. It was one of those garages with the racks in Philadelphia. I try not to drive anything I care about to ny or phl. I have an old Mazda 3 that's perfect for not caring about

Good advice, take the ferry from Weehawkin NJ.

You need to be more specific, when dealing with NYC, it would help if you are uptown, downtown or midtown area, for good locations for parking.
Most garages are safe, I always park off W44 street, street all garages in NY are high priced.

I would not take your car into NYC and park it in Weehawken NJ and take the furry to NYC. Or park in Hoboken NJ and take the Path Train. Avoid taking your car into the city. Also this will be cheaper.

I thought Penn station is running on weekend schedule due to repairs for the next 2 months.

Download SpotHero which is a parking garage app. It will allow you to reserve a spot at a discounted rate and will show you parking garages around the city. You could also go online and find a one time $5.00 discount code for first time users. GL
