Default Looking for a shop Chester/Lancaster County, PA

We inherited a '66 about 2 years ago. I need to get some work done and get it run through PA state inspection. I think the trans is leaking. Looking for a shop that specializes in Corvettes or classics. Took it to County Corvette last year for something minor and was sticker-shocked at the bill. They are out unless their shop rate, I think it was $135/hour, is the norm.

Thanks for the info! This car has been in the wife's family since new. We would like to maintain it the same way. Starts every time I get in

For a comparison sake, you can call two other local shops. Local meaning within 100 miles.

Conte's Corvettes in Vineland, NJ. Ask for Marty.

Corvette Paramedics in Mt. Holly, NJ

Tell them both Zipity Duda recommended you to call

Good luck and awesome story on keeping the Vette in the family.

County Corvettes does great but expensive work. Contact Phil Voshell President, at County Corvette Association, a Corvette Club located in Media Pa. he can recommend some people.

They do great work, but they are expensive. It's tough because guys like me don't normally own cars like this. I took it there to get a stripped seat belt bolt removed. I about passed out when I got the bill

if you can't work on it yourself that is the norm, what do you think it would cost to have a Mercedes worked on down the street from County Corvette ? and for that you would be spending money on a vehicle depreciating daily, not a nice Corvette that's been in the family forever !!

County Corvette is OVERPRICED! I had issues with my C5's AC last summer and took it there. It ended up needing the AC compressor replaced so I said ok and then got hit with a HEFTY bill. Picked up the car and the AC still didn't fully work...It wasn't blowing out of the vents with any force. They said they looked it over quick but couldn't find the issue without diving into it deeper I.E. pulling the dash apart. I said NO and took the car home, hopped on the forum and within 5 minutes I found the answer I needed to fix the issue. The vacuum line from the back of the intake to the vacuum manifold behind the PCM had come off! It took me 15 minutes to fix and the AC worked great again.

They have a nice place and may be really good at restoration but I will not be taking my C5 there again.

one has to ask ....... why didn't you get an estimate up front ? and if you thought it to be high then why didn't you shop around ?

Wanted it fixed quick and didn't ask what the cost was upfront.... When I picked it up and it still wasn’t 100% I realized my mistake. I took the car and fixed it myself instead of having them continue to dig into it and charge me an exorbitant amount of money.

Bumping this. Things have changed in the last 4 years. I still have the car. I don't drive it as much as I would like. I am looking to get some engine work done. I think it has an oil leak from the rear main seal. I want to get the leak repaired. I also want to do a mild street cam and exhaust while they have it apart. The car is too quiet and slower than my plain jane daily driver. Or maybe it's just tired. Looking for a shop in Lancaster (preferably) or Chester County. I'm looking for suggestions. I appreciated it!

Thanks!

Reach out to the the Lancaster County Corvette club and ask some of there members for a recommended shop in your area.

In my area if it were me I'd use Performance Automotive in Malvern, Pa. They are Porsche specialists but I've known Paul & Pete (owners) for over twenty years and they are top notch.
