What would you think of this Dealer
What would you think of a Major Rhode Island corvette / chevrolet dealer, who refuses to work on your car, warranty covered or not, because you did not purchase it from his dealership????
Thoughts?????

Because I am really old, this used to happen in the stone age, if you didn't buy your car from a certain dealership, some dealerships would work on your car when they completed their purchasing customers cars work, another words when they got around to it, BUT I have not heard of that in the last 20 years. As far as Corvette's I have not heard of that happening, in fact my local Chevy dealership Bryner in Jenkintown PA has Corvette's coming in from other states to be worked on because of their single Corvette tech. I would call the 800 number in the owners manual to let GM know not all dealerships play nice

While I agree that GM corporate should be made aware of this dealers policies, do you really want to have your car serviced by a dealership that is forced to do it ?

They are a big dealership, and most likely have covered their butt with GM. Nevertheless it is an unfriendly policy not representative of the image GM/Corvette is trying to present to the buying public.

In my case I have bought 3 Vettes not from my servicing dealer because they only get in a couple each year. Heck my last came from Kerbeck!
My service manager know and understands. He has also said all the department in this business have to make a profit and working on Chevy vechicles is his job. No bullshit, you call up, make a appointment (reasonable time frame) and your car goes in, Makes no difference if you pay or warranty pays.
Funny they do not sell many Vettes but they have a good Vette tech and a couple other extremely good mechanics. This place is a bit rural and they work on more trucks than cars, but like I said they have some decent mechanics there..

Retired & lovin' it!
Seems unusual since to the best of my knowledge, the Sales & Service departments of most dealerships are separate profit centers & the Service department is anxious to do as much work as they can get. Were you absolutely told that was the reason they won't work on your Vette or are you assuming that's the cause?

Thoughts? Find an independent shop, or another dealer. They may "accidentally" forget to tighten something.

What would I think of them? Not much. And I wouldn't ever buy or get my car serviced from them either in the future. Bought my first Vette from Manhattan, my second from Maryland, and I live in PA. Never had any issues with getting work done on my Vettes. Warranty or not.
Run, don't walk, from that guy.

They didn't sell you the Corvette AND now I guess you will never buy any vehicle from them.
They also loose business with others that hear about your experience.

I for one would write a letter to the owner of the dealership and say "I would like to confirm that your dealership will not service any Corvette not purchased at this dealership?"
Back in the late '80's I had a friend who bought a Corvette and took it to be serviced to a very large Corvette dealership and when they didn't fix the issue and was talking to the Service guy one of the owners walked by and said "are you a customer?" and my buddy said well yes I bought a Corvette, the owner said no did you buy it from us? He said no so the owner said then you're not a customer.
