Good drag strips in/near Delaware?
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Looking for good drag strips in or near Delaware. I saw US 13 Dragway in Delmar. Any good? I’m not looking to race, just check out some good racing with nice cars. Atco isn’t too far. Anything else around here?

Cecil County has their Street Car Shootout on the first Saturday of the month starting in April. It’s a really great event with some crazy fast cars.
Atco has has East Coast Supercharging LS/LT challenge starting up this year. I believe 6 events throughout the season. This event is on the same day as Atco’s Outlaw day, so again, some crazy fast cars and good racing.
Capital Raceway, Mason-Dixon Dragway, and Maryland International Raceway all have some good events as well. Best to check out their websites for specific events.
Come on out and support the sport!

I'll check out the others; always enjoy cruising in the Z and seeing that kind of action at the destination is the icing on the cake!

Very cool! I’m glad you had a good time. When people ask me what it’s like, I tell them it’s like a car show interrupted by cars ripping down the track.
The 1st East Coast Superchargers LS/LT challenge race is coming up on April 20th at Atco. I hope you can make it out.

Atco puts on a lot of great events. I live about 5 minutes from Atco, and I can hear the track, when the wind blows the right way. Back in the 80's I use to run the annual "Corvette's at the Drags" day of Corvette only racing at Atco, hosted by the now long gone Aquarian Corvette Club. Since Englishtown closed, I think Maple Grove and Atco may be the two best tracks left in the Northeast.
I was in college in Delaware in the 70's, and on weekends I raced my Trans-Am at Cecil County. Atco and Cecil might have been owned by the same person (Paul Jaffe?) back then, or at least had some kind of working relationship. As I remember it, Cecil County was pretty basic in those days, with just some bleachers on the left side of the track, and a little starters shack, I don't think they even had an announcers stand or timing tower. Cecil County was a lot more laid back than Atco. State law in NJ required that anybody racing, had to wear a helmet, while at Cecil, helmets weren't required in street cars. I always found it funny that I could race my 13 second TA at Cecil without a helmet (though I had one so I usually wore it), while my girlfriend with her 20 second 6 cylinder Javelin, had to wear a helmet at Atco.
