Default **Anyone Here got a hook up on TIRES? **

I'm searching for some 19 and 20" tires, preferable 345/25/20 and 275/30/19 for my C6...

I was hoping someone locally can get me a great deal on some tires..

your help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks CF Members!!

I don't know where you live but Richie at Fairfield Chevrolet price matched some Michelin PS2's for me last year. With mounting, balancing, NO shipping and tax the deal was better than Tire rack prices. And Fairfield chevrolet has a great 4 wheel alignment guy who really made my car perform like never before. Richie is the man!

As crazy as it sounds Craigslist and Ebay have been my best luck. Last year I bought a new set of take off C6 18/19 tires for $750 shipped on Ebay. 2 weeks ago I was on Craigslist poking around and saw a new set of Dunlop sport 19/20 tires for $800. I offered him $600 and he delivered.

I'm doing a rear z06 conversion, and i will be running 19/20 combo..

would these tires be the right size..

front wheels/tires: 19x10, 275/30/19
rear wheels/tires: 20x13, 335/30/19

i know i should probably go with a 25 series for the rear tires but I'm getting a great deal on some tires...

please help your expertise is needed..

thank you!

Being too tall is not a problem as long as the front to rear ratio stays the same. Anyone with a tech II can tell your car what size tires you have to adjust the speedometer. However if the ratio is off, you will keep tripping the traction control because the car will think that the rear tires are breaking loose.

If ya dont mind me asking how much of a spread cost/savings you talking about between tire rack & Fairfield Chev? Would be saving $50, 100, each etc. ect.

Thanks

Normally we are about the same price as TR in most cases. Sometimes we can beat them and sometimes they beat us. It is nice to not have to deal with shipping and receiving the tires. We get them and you come up and get them installed and at the same time, get an allignment or whatever else you need. It will be hard to find anywhere that is going to beat TR by more then a couple bucks. Even when we do, I am normally making $5-$10 per tire is all.

Tech II won't do it on most cars. you have to call Tech Assist and get a code for the correct tire size and then download it into the PCM. I wish we could do it with the TECH II. Also most of the BS you hear about keeping the tire ratios equal is not totally true. I have ran MT ET Street Bias ply slicks on th rear and normal 17" street tires in the front with almost a 1 1/2" difference between them with No TC/AH problems. I drove from work to Sears on the highway with TC on and never got a light or anything.

I agree with you about ratio, however my car knows when the DR's are on the back and will throw a active handling code and go to limp mode! I had to pull of the road, kill the engine, re-boot the engine, restart the car, turn off the t/c and get back on the road! This has happened to me more than once heading to the track with my dr's. My front tires were 245/45/17 and my dr's are 275/40/18's. I don't know what the problem is exactly but it only does it with my dr's on.

When I changed tire size on my '04, Synergy was able to adjust the speedo by telling the car what the new rear tire height was. However, while the fronts were the same height as original, the new rears were about an inch shorter. After that, any time I got over 70mph the traction control would kick in. I went to my local dealership and they tried to find the problem. Once they noticed the tire size ratio change, they explained it to me. Since the shorter rear tire has to make faster rotations to travel the same distance, the car sees it as rear wheel spin (completely makes sense). Just to be sure, I threw my stock tires and wheels back on and the problem immediately dissapeared. Since I liked the new tires better, I put in a LapTrax unit which put the car in competetive driving mode (AH on, TC off) each time I started the car. After that, no more problems.
