Interested in a c-5... need advice.
Hey guys I'm somewhat of a new comer on this site. I registered about a year ago?? I been interested in getting a 1997-2004 corvette. I have made a few posts on here about it... I live out in san francisco and haven't actually been able to get up close or even drive in a c5.
My question is where is the best place to actually see them up close, test drive one ( no dealerships) just to get a feel of what there like.
Please let me know.
Thanks.

Yea I have my heart set on a c-5. I LOOOOOVE those body styles. I have a few other posts on this board... I'm looking to buy or trade my 1992 sel 600 ( v-12) mercedes for one hopefully.
How do you think they would fill about giving me a test drive if I have no intention of buying that car though??

I think it would be best if you come to a get together. It may be a little drive for you however you will see a lot of different year C5. A big plus is that you will get to talk to all the owners who have nothing to gain whether you purchase a C5 or not so they will give you the true story about their car. I am also sure that some of the guys will take you a ride in their car so you can get a good feel for it. There are a lot of different models like Z06, hardtop or coupe. Aside from all the informations you can gain, you will also meet a lot of nice Corvette people.

I have a 2004 convertible for sale if your interested. I'm in Pleasanton at the end of the BART line.
I'm the original owner and have babied this car since I've owned it. I've added many tasteful mods. Car is an automatic with 32,000 miles.
$30,000? BB on this is $31k and change and that is for a stock version.
This has long tube headers, 3.73 gears, Synergy dyno tune, new Michellin Pilot Sport tires, tinted windows, Kicker subwoofer and amp, custom yellow interior, HID headlights, chrome Motorsport C6 wheels, etc, etc.
925-600-0108 if you want to come out and see the car.

Man that is a nice car there. I'm not looking to buy until around dec/jan. I want to either sell my mercedes or trade it.. And do some research on c-5's before I jump into it. Thats why I'm kind of trying to get an idea of where to look and stuff.
Nice car though it looks good yellow.

The economy is sooooo soft right now no one has stepped forward to even make a low ball offer. I've had this on Craigslist and the Corvette Forum sale section for 2 weeks with absolutely no calls.
Everyone is selling their jet skis, boats, Hummers, etc. so toys like mine aren't moving.
I'll probably still have the car when your ready in Jan. so save my number.
I like the yellow color, I've read that only 5% of vettes are yellow and combine that with the convertible top and you have a car that is rare. The most common colors for vettes are red and black.
My car is great as-is but would really be great with a heads/cam package or a blower - something that would pump the hp out to 500+.
The dyno tune, headers and cold air intake brought it up to 350 hp.
The 3.73 gears really make the car fly off the line.
After 4 years I've had my fun, time to move on. Plus I'm in the mortgage business and I really can't afford this thing anymore.

Yea man times are tough. I think im going to take a loss on my mercedes not sure yet though. The one thing I noticed though is that the c-5's never get under 10,000 dollars let alone hard to find one even close to that.. I'm hoping maybe by sometime next year i can pick one up in the 10,000 - 13,500 dollar range or so? But I don't see them at that price. But you never know with the economy.
The funny thing is that insurance would probably be cheaper with a corvette rather then my mercedes and I KNOW for sure gas would be cheaper... I pay about 130 bucks for a fill up.. and get like 13/14 miles to the gallon.
