Default Recommendations in Santa Clara / San Jose area?

Hey folks
I am heading to Santa Clara / San Jose for business next week and we have our counterparts from the UK joining as well. Looking for recommendations on a few things:

1) Any good breweries or brewpubs in the area?
2) Is there a good Brazilian Steakhouse / Churrascaria in the area? One of the guys from the UK is a vegetarian when at home because his wife is and when he comes to the states he lets loose. So I want to take him and the UK guys to a good one.

Thanks
Shane

Depending on where you're willing to go a couple of options come to mind. The first one is in south San Jose-

The second one is in the downtown area which has a few more options in terms of other entertainment but the parking and crowds can be a bit of a pain at times-

This is downtown too and I can't believe I almost forgot it. I'm not sure if this beer is distributed in your area but it's pretty darned popular here and the food there was also very good although it's been maybe 5 years since I've eaten there. Nice place for a group-

The fourth is this pub although I've never even talked to anybody who has been there-

I've never heard of a Brazilian steakhouse in the area but maybe somebody else has. If you decide on the downtown area this is a very well known BBQ place that most folks really like. DO NOT go there if the Sharks are playing that night because the wait can be ugly-

Good luck and have fun!

Go to the Rock Bottom Brewery in Campbell. Great beer, great food, and an awesome environment.

As for the Brazilian steakhouse, I look forward to responses. I have never been able to find one in the area.

Some more places to check out !

Breweries, Los Gatos Brewery is a good micro brewery for sure, CB Hannigans is another in Los Gatos (more traditional pub, not making beer !)

Have not seen any Brazilian food place around here. If you want to have great steaks though then I can highly recommend Sundance Steakhouse in Palo Alto, pricy but probably one of the best steakhouses in Bay Area.

Birk's is ok as well in Santa Clara. Fairmont hotel in San Jose also have great food, Morton's is also decent.

Cheers, Hakan

Friend's uncle was the guy who ran Birk's (namesake)... was murdered a few years back.

I hate to say it, but I do think the quality has gone down a bit since.

Last time I was there the service was so bad I swore I would never go back.
