The original offense was for speed contest that caused great bodily injury which carries up to 3 yrs. maximum. Now with the death of KRIEGER the penalty is vehicle manslaughter with carries a maximum up to 6 years.

Seems as if not much difference from the too penalties considering a death occurred.

I believe them when stating that they were not racing per say, speeding yes.

Just goes to show you want you can open yourself up to in regards to being prosecuted if outside the law.

The boys are young and 6 years will pass. The family will mourn the loss of their daughter for the rest of their lives. Not counting the injustice of having the girls live end abruptly.

One second everything is all cool the next **** hits the fan big time.

Yes are actions have ramifications and sometimes the come back is BIG.

I feel for all parties involved....just was not necessary.

Just saw the article in the mercury this morning. They can't punish those two enough for what they've done.

Sad story for all involved. Too bad we're unable to rewind the video and rewrite the ending.

Sadly over the years, I have seen too many of these same tragic stories that altered peoples lives forever both those who were innocent of any wrong doings and those who were actually involved.

If in fact Rich boy bailed and fled the country, I hope they hunt him down. If you are rich, you can get away with murder. Those bastards may serve a measly 6 years and then get back to a FULL life, meanwhile her family will suffer the remainder of their life. My aunt has never been the same since her daughter died from a sudden illness. I feel for her family. R.I.P. Ashley Nicole Krieger and may you recieve justice.

if the kids go to jail, means US need to spend money for his food in prison for around 7 years.

i think it will be fair if:
1. US fine them for 7 yrs in prison maybe around 50Mil
2. the girl family sue the rich family for 100Mil
3. send the kids home and blacklist them so he couldnt enter US again

Sad to hear of her death. News videos from the bowling alley where she worked all said she was basically a "ray of sunshine to everybody's day" there.

I just googled the driver of the Merc and found his facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/people/Chand...nama/670706764
I just sent him a message asking him if he was going to jail and pasted a link to the news article about the poor girl dying.

Unfortunately, our legal system provides the best justice money can buy. I'm betting neither of these two pukes gets a significant jail sentence. I'm an old guy but I've done my share of street racing in the past. I'm not proposing that people should be shot for drag racing on the street, but what these two over privileged douche bags were doing is commensurate with murder. You don't travel at 65-90 mph on El Camino Real, or any other main city street, EVER, at any time! If you do and you kill someone, you should pay the penalty, and that penalty should be severe. Their stupidity has destroyed several lives (the girl, her parents, her family, etc.) and they should fry.

Ragtop, it wasn't a main city street.. it was a residential street off that T's onto El Camino.

I though it was on Bowers? If so, that is a main street. It's 4 lanes wide, is an extension of Great America Parkway, is a main freeway exit, and has the main Santa Clara post office on it - just a block down.
