Default Good Corvette mechanic

Any recommendation for good mechanic for C5 in the Bay Area for general repair work on a supercharged C5. I need to swap out my thermostat and replace all my hoses.

I was quoted by Synergy as follow:

99 with Procharger P1SC-1 installed
Replacing the thermostat to 160 degrees
Replacing all engine hoses with silicon hoses
Welding the wide band sensor and its connector and route the wire into the passenger compartment.

Labor only=$1500
12 hours of labor
Does this sound right?

THIS GUY HAS VERY REASONABLE PRICES TOO: http://valayamotorsports.com/

More of a Viper shop but they have been doing a lot of Corvette work the last few years.

They are adjacent to the Shark Tank in San Jose.

Worth a call anyway.

Labor to replace the thermostat (requires removing some of the head unit to gain access to the water pump) and then replacing ALL the hoses would be about $850 labor. If you want to go with silicon hoses, I would recommend purchasing them online and bringing them with you. If you want to set up an appointment, please PM or email me and I will be happy to set it up.

Depending on which s/c bracket you have, the entire head unit may have to come off. 12 hours to do that, and replace hoses and installing a wide-band does not sound unreasonable

Have you checked if Synergy is a recommended shop by Procharger? The Procharger website says they vet shops, just plug in your zip code to find one nearest you.

Anyone ever heard of or used Northstar Auto in Mountain View? They are a Corvette shop that looks like they have been in business for quite some time. Just wondering what people's experiences have been using them.

I'm also looking for a good repair shop in the San Jose area. I have a C6 coupe, no mods.

What is Synergy?

I'm unhappy with the dealership service department, and my warranty expired a few weeks ago. I'd like to get something lined up for the next unexpected repair.

Oil pan gasket. In here somewhere there are pics that show it and looks like oil is absorb into oil pan. Also had water pump & thermostat replaced at same time.

I have been using Northstar since 2000. Always done right the first time. Have had a 2000, 2007 and now 2016. Would never take my corvette elsewhere.

Congrats on your 2016! How do you like it compared to your previous Corvettes?

I'll vouch for Synergy Motorsports. Rick replaced my tranny in my Trans Am and he did an awesome job. My buddy who owned a Lingenfelter Vette recently recommended Abel to me, I haven't checked them out yet.

Either or!
