Default Aluminum oil pan repair

Anyone where i can get an aluminum oil pan repaired? I bought an out of state car and it showed up with a patch of jb weld on the oil pan so I'm pretty sure its cracked. I bought another one off ebay, but came with a stripped drain plug. When i tapped it for a timesert, i tapped it crooked I do not want to tap it any larger because there is not much material around the threads. A new oil pan is $1200.

Any good machine shop or welding shop should be able to fix both of the pans.I don't know the best shops in your area but maybe somebody will post up .If you stay in this hobbie very long you will have to find a good machinist.

Mark, I live 30 min from Napa. The cracked oil pan is on the car and has epoxy covering it. The stripped oil pan is off. Can it be filled with material and retapped or have a bung welded in? I should have the cracked pan off this weekend and can take a picture of the inside.

Yes I can weld in a new bung. You have to clean cast very well but it can be welded.
