Default Redding '60's---Thatcher, Rodway Chevrolet

I'm doing some research on my '63. Apparently it was first sold in Redding---possibly by Thatcher and Sons Chevrolet (downtown).

I see there was also a Rodway Chevrolet in Redding.

Does anyone remember when Thatcher closed their doors--------and when Rodway opened theirs?

Also interested in any stories, pictures or items from them.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know about back then but today it is not uncommon for dealerships to trade or even outright sell a new car on their lot to other dealers. This happens a lot with Corvettes. Is your research showing what dealer it was delivered to, or what dealer sold it. Just wanted to say that could be two different dealers, even two that are somewhat distant from each other.

Good point--I never thought of that.

I did the NCRS shipping data thing it's saying original delivery dealer to Thatchers. For sure leaves the possibility of Rodway getting it from them---especially if Rodway had a car that Thatchers wanted. That is if Rodway was open in '63.

Side note----very beautiful country out there. I grew up south of Redding (Citrus Heights/North Highlands/Roseville) in the early '70's.

Looks like Rodway was incorporated in 1970.

Thank you very much for the eBay link-------and also for the date for Rodway. Answers a lot of questions for me.
