Default Best Corvette Shop in South Bay / Silicon Valley?

Hi Friends,

Any favorite shops in South Bay that you trust? There's a few I found on Yelp, but I always take those reviews with a grain of salt. Would love to hear from you guys/gals.

I want someone to give the car a once-over and also change the transmission and rear end fluids.

Sorry to say, but no. All the local 'good' ones have their share of horror stories. I trek it down to so-cal for any major work. Fluid changes are not hard, but I still have trouble trusting anyone. Your best bet would probably be making the trip to Abel in Rio Vista for any major maintenance.

I drive from Gilroy to Abel for any major work and fluid changes (except for oil changes which I do myself). I had a bad experience with the Chevrolet dealer's service dept. here in Gilroy so I won't go there again.

I bought my C7 from Capitol Chevrolet. It came with the dealer installed Z06 spoiler which required they remove the rear bumper to install. I had it wrapped and they found the dealer broke the tabs on the power box that the hatch power feeds to. Instead of replacing the broken part they user a rubber band to "fix" it. Needless to say, this C7 will never have any service done at that dealer.

Do you mean they actually used a rubber band, not a figure a speech?

It's over a 2 hour drive for me to Abel, but my Z is there right now for head replacement and a few other goodies.

Sadly, not a figure of speech. It was an actual rubber band. I guess they figured no one would know...

I had a bad experience with Boardwalk (not service related though), and won't do any business with them again. I just recently made the 80mi drive to Abel and it was exactly as described on here. One thing though -- if you plan on waiting, bring your laptop or something as there's not a lot of things to do close by! The McDonald's employees probably know all the people hanging around are Abel customers...

That’s about how far I drive and wouldn’t have it any other way.
Actually there’s a great little downtown in the heart or Rio vista.
And I’m sure if you ask they will take you and drop you off anywhere in town.
It’s not a bad walk either. And then there’s a bunch of really good locally owned place to eat.
If you fish. Bring a rod. The delta is right there.

And boss is always around to play with lol.

Abel is the place to go to and you can walk down to the fishing pier across the street or shore if you like to fish.

My Z51 is just about @ 500 miles. Abel isn't taking service appointments until July 16 (a month away). So my choices are wait and not drive it, drive it and go several hundred over the 500, or take it to one of the locals that have crap reviews. Dilemma!

Yes Rich told me they are about 2 weeks booked.
They do work on a lot of Corvettes.
When I am there at their Service Dept. all I see are Corvettes.

If you're using the online appt scheduler on the website, it defaults to that long. GM doesn't have a way to check the schedule before allowing a customer to book an appt and they were severely over booking us. Unfortunately the only way to keep them from booking appts on top of each other was to default it to that far out.

I would recommend calling one of our service advisers or emailing me directly to schedule. We're typically about 5-7 business days out for most work and up to a couple weeks for more involved jobs.

Abel is worth waiting for. You could always do it yourself. You would be sure it is done right and it doesn't take that long.

I went to Northstar in Mtn View and am happy with the work done, as well as the price. I do all of my own work, but can't do tires or alignment. Had him do the trans and diff fluid change while it was on the lift. Saved me a Saturday morning on my back.

It seems like with other dealerships and independent shops, some people have had a good experience, some people have had a bad experience and some people say it was OK.

I used to take my car to Courtesy/Momentum. They did solve some problems that were driving me nuts. My concern is that they kept trying to upsell me on services I don't believe my car needed. I was concerned that eventually my car would really need the service they recommended, and I wouldn't have it done because I didn't trust them.

My other complaint is that the service department was not good at answering or returning phone calls. When I have my car in for service, I would like to know what is going on so I can plan my day.

I heard Momentum hired a new general manager and a new service manager. I don't know if the new managers have made any changes.
