Default OT: Won a major book award with my first book!

Some of you have seen my other thread where I announced being a Finalist in an annual book contest put on by Foreword Reviews magazine, the premiere publication that reviews indie books. I just heard that I won a Bronze Medal in the category of Adventure & Recreation with my memoir, True North, Hunting Fossils Under the Midnight Sun. Foreword Reviews is the indie equivalent of Publishers Weekly, and I’m delighted to be one of the top three out of 100 entries. They bestow their INDIE award to the podium finishers in each category, so I’m a 2017 Foreword INDIE Award winner!

This is a big deal in the publishing world, so I’m delighted at my podium finish. This book is my first, and because it’s a memoir it’s also my last. It took nine years and 14 versions to write, and I’m not going through that again!

Lou

The hunt is quite an adventure. While there is interesting information about paleontology, it reads like an Indiana Jones story.

Thanks, guys! Winning a major book contest was the last thing from my mind when I started writing. But I'll take it!
