If your subwoofer is up to it the cannon blasts sound pretty realistic. As close as I'd like to get indoors anyway.

Try it with a Paradigm Servo 15.

I've got an average system, but am slowly upgrading. My room isn't closed in, so I don't know if I should go 7.1 or not. Probably should, I guess.

Need a new receiver to get True HD DTS, or whatever it's called. My old Kenwood speakers still sound good, but they need to be upgraded. Just got a new Definitive Technologies sub that rattles my teeth, though.

I've got dual SVS CS-Ultras with 1000 watt amps. I used to trip the circuit breaker with really loud scenes so now they have their own dedicated 30amp circuit.

Greek to me, but I imagine the whole neighborhood can feel it.

You think the Kenwood sound good. Wait till you hear some speakers that the Def Tech deserves.

The Servo 15 is 2500 watts.

U571, when they were dropping the depth charges on the sub...will let you know if your subs have enough punch!

I've still got more volume. My subs are ported, the Servo 15 is sealed. Sealed designs eat power for breakfast.

These kind of power levels are pretty nuts anyway. If my subs hit over 70% power for more than a second it'll trip the 30amp circuit. The Servo 15 couldn't actually hit 2500 watts plugged into a 110v circuit. You'd need 220v for that kind of output, and of course it's not wired for 220v so...

Back on topic, The Haunting (DTS version) has an INSANE amount of bass when the bed is trying to eat that chick.

I haven't seen it, but Pulse is supposed to have crazy bass too.

Oops, it's 1500 RMS and 4500 Peak. That's Paradigm watts. They are the only company with an anachoic chamber to test speakers to determine the true power rating and freq. response etc. Sealed have better accuracy.

I know, one step at a time, though. I don't have a dedicated room, so I don't want to overkill. It's probably 20" x 15" or so, but one wall is open.

Crap, I completely forgot about that, I think I have it on DVD, too. Good call.

Episode 2 when Fett's ships is dropping his charges is great as well.

The opening scene of Gladiator with all the fireballs was cool too.

Good call Carlton and Kerry.

I also love the scene in Predator where the dude freaks out and cuts down half the jungle with the gatlin gun.

I'll check them out. On a side note, we just watched Rattatoulie (sp?) on your recommendation, I think it was your's. Awesome movie.
