nice vehicles but I think they require too much maintenance.

I had a 1986 model, 2-seater, 5-speed, T-Tops, non turbo and non-electronics pkg. Drove it to 289,000 miles and sold it in 2001. didn't trust it for highway trips any longer, but it was running fine.

Actaully, the guy who bought it still uses it as his DD.

Lets see, while I owned it, had to replace the transmission, differential, interior panels, stereo, and power window motors, plus get it painted. Usual tires, brakes, etc. Engine was strong though, and all the while I owned it, all I ever did to it was change the oil at 3,000 mile intervals. And it got better than 25 mpg.

I'm watching eBay for another one, would like to find it under 100K miles.

mrs. 'dust has a '72 which i'm in the process of installing a modded L26. it'll be the "retro-rice-rod".
mine is a '73. it's destined to be a track day car. i already have a chebby 4.3 v6 that's looking for a new home. now all i need to find is a decent five speed....
