Default FYI......Wright Patterson Air Force Museum

For all you people looking to go, get there early and sign up for the presidential tour. They will take you to a seperate hanger were the xb-70, x-15, and the aliens are. I had to go up twice in a week because I missed out on the tour the first time. To me the xb-70 is one of the main reasons to go there.

We went in 2004, fantastic! And the price is right! (free)

I snuck into the freezer and saw what looked like frozen little creatures, with large heads and green skin!

Now you do, they changed it a few months ago. I live close so I was not that upset. The guy at the front door told me that the xb is the most requested plane to see.

You need a drivers licenses and another form of ID just to go. It is still well worth it. You will never see a collection of airplanes like that in the world.

The rest of the museum is an all day affair and the Air Force Museum is the largest and best airplane museum in the world. Its free! If you come close to Dayton, Ohio, make sure you go to the museum. The museum is close to Dayton, actually its in Fairborne. Free parking too and they have a cafeteria (you'll need it). Neatest place to tour with a family in the entire world!

I pass it everyday on the railroad tracks, but last week was the first time I have been in years. JBF is right you will never see this many planes in one location. I am not taking about the chit at your local airport. The expirimental hanger is unbelievable.

I was just getting out of high school the day when the XB-70 flew over in the landing pattern for WPAFB on its last flight (I grew up in Dayton). Here is a pic of the other one

If you have not been back In a while, you should go. The place is much bigger with the addition of the third hanger. They are getting ready to start a fourth one to put the x-planes in.

No, I have not been back in a long time. We used to hang out there when I was a kid on Saturdays. That was when it was over at Patterson field, before the move to Wright field. (Oh boy, that sure dates me!) Somewhere buried away I have the newspaper cover where they hauled all the planes down the highway to the current museum site.

We have a railroad siding between both fields, it is a awsome sight to see those c5s land. When we are parked I am always out of the train plane watching.

I was there about 15 years ago. It was the best airplane museum I'd ever seen. It sounds like I need to go again.
