Default C5.....

Watching them come in on approach to Wright-Patt it seems they are going to fall out of the sky.

Being inside of one makes you feel very small.

if they didnt have the flap and slat arrangement that they do, they would... the wing damn near doubles when flaps and slats are deployed.

When they fly over it sounds as if some of them have a different engine. Most of them have a high pitch wine, a few don't.

3 have new GE CF6 engines, it might have been one of the RERP (Reliabilty Enhancement & Re-engining Program) aircraft. Production is supposed to start in August I think to begin converting the rest of the "B" models to the new engines. The whiny engines are the old TF39's

Has room upstairs in the back under the tail for about 75 passengers I think. Flew on them a few times when I was in the USAF.

Yes and that was before they put the wind deflectors in front of the jump doors ..They added those after the first few drops made all the chutes tangle ..from wind rip ...
We learned fast to step out and not jump away from the plane ..
They were so big and carried so many guys ..they had to make two passes or the last ones out landed way off the zone ...

"Where's the crew bus?"

" My hotel sux!"

"Where are the condimnents for my box lunch?"

"My Rent a Car is too small"

Friggin' cry babies...
