Can someone enlighten me on what the lyrics mean?
//
In the white room with black curtains near the station.
Blackroof country, no gold pavements, tired starlings.
Silver horses ran down moonbeams in your dark eyes.
Dawnlight smiles on you leaving, my contentment.

Ill wait in this place where the sun never shines;
Wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves.

You said no strings could secure you at the station.
Platform ticket, restless diesels, goodbye windows.
I walked into such a sad time at the station.
As I walked out, felt my own need just beginning.

Ill wait in the queue when the trains come back;
Lie with you where the shadows run from themselves.

At the party she was kindness in the hard crowd.
Consolation for the old wound now forgotten.
Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes.
Shes just dressing, goodbye windows, tired starlings.

Ill sleep in this place with the lonely crowd;
Lie in the dark where the shadows run from themselves.

The lyrics just mean that the drugs were great back then, that's all.

You live in Santa Cruz, and you need to ask?

BTW -- my daughter's at UCSC. She says Santa Cruz is very different from New York City.

If you run into her, say hello.

The first band that really started rocking it hard was LOVE with a little tune called "My Little Red Book" written by Bert Bacharach around Late '65. We are talking real rock, right?

We all love Cream! But, they didn't hit until well after LOVE had blasted the airways with Seven And Seven Is. One of the very greatest rock tunes from the era and still gets it today

Gotta ad this...Don't get me wrong, the body of Creams work way eclipses Love's by light years. The question was "The FIRST band to really rock". Some might say it was the Byrds, some might say it was Bobby Fuller. It was all around the very start of harder type rock. I just remember everybody was really tripping on their sound when Love hit the scene!

The list author says: "This list summarizes, in order, the greatest rock artists of the 1960's. Bands and artists only qualify based on their output during the 1960's, so for example, the Who lose a few spaces because their best music came in the 1970's, and so on.

"The Beatles, of course, are number 1, with the prolific and groundbreaking albums that set the standard for the rest of the rock community."
