Blind would be worse. If your deaf you can still do a lot of things.

Of the two, being blind would be worse. It's hard to imagine those that have been blind since birth. How do you describe the simplest of things?

I was in the Army with a guy who had such keen hearing, he had to wear ear plugs or cotton in his ears. We tested him and at over 100 yards he could hear/repeat normal conversation.

Anyway, I'd rather be deaf than blind. In fact, I sometimes feign deafness (called Mute Button).

No brainer for me. I have been almost deaf for 40 years. Take the rest of my ears, leave me my eyes.

Question: Are deaf people legally allowed to drive? If so, are there any limitations?

Yes...Deaf people are allowed to drive. I don't think they have any real limitations. There is a notation on their license, but that is about it.

Having a severe hearing deficit affects one's personality and one's social interaction with others. I have had a moderate to severe hearing impairment almost my entire life. I have been wearing hearing aids for the past twenty years. I have noticed that so-called friends and acquaintances often don't hesitate to make fun of my hearing impairment. The same people most likely would never make fun of someone who is blind and uses a white cane.
My wife is going blind, but can still see a little. Before she got her dog, people would give her crap for accidently walking into them at stores, stepping on their toes etc.
Had a large lady get in her face once for walking into her at the grocery store once.

I'd rather be deaf too, but I heard this quote from somewhere that made me think.

"Blindness disconnects you from places, deafness disconnects you from people."
