Having a severe hearing deficit affects one's personality and one's social interaction with others. I have had a moderate to severe hearing impairment almost my entire life. I have been wearing hearing aids for the past twenty years. I have noticed that so-called friends and acquaintances often don't hesitate to make fun of my hearing impairment. The same people most likely would never make fun of someone who is blind and uses a white cane.
i would make fun of a friend if he were blind or deaf or dumb or whatever. if you cant make fun of your friends who can you make fun of?

I would much rather lose my hearing than my sight.

Why is this even a question?!

The answer is obvious unless you happen to live in a cave.

When asked the same question, Helen Keller said she would rather be blind. She said being deaf left her alone since she couldn't talk to people.

Wasn't she born blind/deaf though? Huge difference being born deaf vs. becoming deaf.

Being blind would be worse. I am legally blind in my left eye, and I would trade my hearing to have that eye back. If I lose my right eye, I'm hosed.

I dont have anything on my license, neither does anyone I know thats deaf, have a notion on their license. But if they do that NOW,maybe its new.

That being said,Deaf people in general, have the lowest accidents according to a review done by a University.I dont have a link for that info tho.The reason is,they spend more time using their eyes watching the roads, paying a bit more attention to other cars. They dont get into crashes as often as say, people blasting music, talking on phones or etc.

That might change though...they love to TEXT on their blackberrys while driving now,so I bet that stat changes over time.
