Default Hiding licence plate

Does anybody know if the speed camera really uses polarized filter as I read it in the mythbuster test.

If it's the case, it's possible to use transparent polarized filter from Polaroid (like HN31 or HN32) to mask the plate. BUT the filter have to be exactly at 90°.
If you add a transparent Infra Red filter from GlassControl which cut 90% of the Infra-Red flash and use 3M retroreflective black film for the lettering, I think you can have a completely invisible plate for the cameras but with a normal appeareance for visual control.

Resumé : Aluminium sheet + White & Black 3M retroreflective film for the letters + Infra red filter + Polarized filter + clear polycarbonate plate.

It should do the job but have to be tested. !

How do cover manufacturers know if the polarization on the camera lens is all a certain way, where they can make their covers 90 degrees from that?
Usually reflected light is polarized in a specific plane (don'e recall which one), which is why polarized sun glasses reduce glare from say standing water.
