I see it as throttleyard's logo all the time, but what is the base bike?

Has the look of the old RD series from the 70's but the engine cradle in the picture drops down too low, unless it has been modified?

XS 650 is a twin and has cam caps, so it was obvious to me that it wasn't a 650, but I wasn't sure if it was the 500 or not, so had to look it up. When I did the exact bike popped up as one of the first.
