Default Amazing Guitar players?

Who comes to mind first?

Jimi?........Eddie? ..........Stevie?.........Jeff?

......how about some middle aged bald guy playing in his kitchen or maybe work shop........can't tell really.......... playing a rock guitar staple?

Many of us know the guitar lead from this song note for note and play it reasonable well if not very well..........but the rub comes when you recognize how few of us ever played in a band with a decent keyboard player.

I have my own improvised version of the keyboard solo for this song but I now figure I'm just butchering it after hearing this ...........8 fingered tapping is required to get it right and why am I surprised?

Jon Lord uses 4 fingers and a thumb on each hand playing his keyboard so I suppose it shouldn't surprise me much that this the closest I've ever heard to getting it right on a guitar.

For those who like a little bit of rockabilly, check out this older video of Albert Lee doing "Sweet Little Lisa". I've always been a big fan of the Dave Edmunds version of this song, from "Repeat When Necessary", in which Albert did the soloing. Lee's not a great singer, but he sure can play! There are also newer videos of a gray-haired Lee playing this song, using his Signature Ernie Ball Music Man guitar instead of a Tele.

Not my cup of tea, but Mike Dawes version of "Somebody that I used to know" blows me away.

There are so many great players; not only the famous names mentioned so far, but also many small town pickers who never have been 'discovered' for many reasons.

Of the "name" guitarists mentioned, most say Hendrix. It's hard to argue with that, although I have my own thoughts.
