I was fairly in touch with the history of them at the time.
My next door neighbor bought one from the local Chevy dealer. The dealer wanted to reneg on the deal, but he held them to it for the original MSRP, even discounted a bit. He kept his and stored it with less than 2 miles on it.
BEFORE the Indy race that year, was when they were getting big bucks for them and as I remember 20k or 25k was big bucks.
Immediately AFTER the race, they plummeted back to around MSRP.
Lots of investors hung on to them for years in the hope they would gain in value again, but that never materialized.
A few near zero mileage ones have arisen in the past few years and they really didn't bring much money at all.
Almost all the investors back in the day would have made more depositing the bucks in their local checking account in the last almost 40 years.

Great photos! My deceased brother's wife lives in Sedona. One of these days I will get out there and see this beautiful place. My son traveled from Pleasanton, Ca. and arrived at night and told me not to arrive at night.
