Default Facebook Fridays: One of Corvette’s Biggest Champions Retires

Ed Welburn, one of Corvette's biggest and most influential fans, has decided to retire. And while we certainly wish him well, we also really hate to see him go.

This man is a true believer. It will be a terrible shame to see him go.

I met him at Amelia two years ago. A real class act -this is GM's loss, and I will be sorry to see him go!

Never having met Mr. Welburn he always came off as one of the classiest individuals in interviews and automotive shows. His passion for cars was what made him so special.

44 years, enjoy that well deserved retirement Mr. Welburn.

He was like a kid in a candy store at the C7 rollout during the Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca a couple of years ago. Ed loves Corvettes and is a true car guy!

Enjoy your retirement!

I wonder if there will be a "Welburn" edition Corvette in the future?

Ed will be missed. He may be retiring from GM but I bet he will keep himself busy. Sorry to see Ed go.

His retirement will be a huge loss for GM - he was as good a head designer as Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell. I hope his replacement, Mike Simcoe, is at least half as good.
Wishing Ed all the best in his retirement.

Default Welburn's treasures C7 most

It’s clear that the design of the C7 Corvette is what the retiring global design chief treasures most...
