Default Big Three Automaker Bailout Documentary Has a Lot to Get Off Its Chest

If you were to ask the average U.S. citizen whether or not the American automaker bailout was a success, you'd likely hear a resounding "yes!" They were broke, now they're thriving with record sales. But in reality, it all depends on who you ask.

If you were to ask the average U.S. citizen whether or not the American automaker bailout was a success, you’d likely hear a resounding “yes!” They were broke, now they’re thriving with record sales. But in reality, it all depends on who you ask. Some in-the-know people might tell you what happened was completely un-American, others will tell you it’s just a patch that’s going to peel off again some time soon. Either way, it would be foolish to think this was as simple as: A doesn’t have money, B gives A money, all is fixed. It’s not that simple.

Like all documentaries, Live Another Day: The Inside Story of the 2008 Auto Bailout has an angle. Judging by the trailer below, the angle is that there’s a whole lot more to the story, a lot of it bad. There’s corruption, there’s lying, there are mistakes, and there’s back-stabbing. Sounds like the next Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino movie, right?

The Detroit Bereau gave the doc a pretty high review: “Masterful storytelling … Live Another Day achieves what far too few documentaries can accomplish, turning a potentially complex and confusing tale of high finance into a compelling story that even those with no automotive or financial experience can appreciate.”

The documentary attempts to untangle a messy system of roots that involves bankruptcy law, the biggest economic collapse since the Great Depression, unions, and some of the biggest corporations in the world. If you’re interested, check out the preview below and watch it in theaters now.

People are very stupid and most would honestly believe the bail out was a good decision when in fact the Gov't stole the company from the bond holders.

Most will also tell you that the car companies have paid back the bailout money, which is not the case.

Wonder why they intimated the Ford emblem when Ford didn't take the money.
