Streaming Audio does not use as much battery as streaming video. It's the screen that sucks up most of the power.

Not hard to apply. But you to have to receive your phone first.

Stock ROMs and their battery life...

With hefty usage on a one year old phone with a used up battery and a paltry 3,000mAh battery easily a day of usage with over 30 minutes of on screen time being used. You guys are drained up and dry in hours...

This is also while sitting in a hospital all day where cell service is harder to get so can put more of a strain on the device. Typical days with 1-2 hours of on screen time I'm not even close to 40% in one day's usage.

30 minutes of on-screen time??
I have about 5 - 6 hours of on-screen time and sometimes much more than that...

Still running my Galaxy 5S.
Still runs like a top.

The replacement I wanted had a tendency to blow up.

I'm looking at the Pixel XL

I'd wait for Pixel 2 XL.

Not that the Pixel XL isn't great (still best phone on market IMHO), but if you can wait Pixel 2 is looking even better.

However, Samsungs fixed my two biggest peeves with their phone line on the S8. Hopefully their Note series follow suit. Now if they could only get their suck azz RIM'S under control.

Looking forward to playing with the S8+ today.

There's another reason I want the Pixel. My carrier is AT&T. They generally suck on upgrades. Their system is the last to send out system upgrades.
Pixel is a google phone that's unlocked. But the system itself is maintained by Google. So every update goes out immediately to Google users and not through the carrier.
Kind of like Apple

Hadn't heard about the Pixel 2 so, thanks

The reason why I went with the S8+ is BECAUSE it is a T-mobile phone. I had a unlocked phone which I love for a few months but I really need the T-mobile wifi calling feature as in my house, there are some dead spots with no cell phone signal. I'm on call 24/7 from my job and it's not good if I lose my cell phone connection.. With T-mobile wifi calling, as long as I'm connected to my house's wifi, I'm connected to the cell phone network..

Some of us actual have work to do during the day that doesn't revolve sitting on a cell phone.

Either way a 2%/hr drain for me is high it's usually in the 1%/hr drain sitting idle and I can easily push 3hr+ SOT and last a full day. Draining a battery by 2:30 PM is kinda ridiculous as posted above.

So, is the S8 or S8+ worth getting?

Currently using an LG V10, on T-Mobile. Where's my nougat?

Depends on what you're looking for if it's worth it. For someone like me who likes root for Adblocking, backing up, audio modifications, and overall a more streamlined and silky smooth OS I'm avoiding the S8/S8+. Maybe down the road an international version with Exynos as I overhear the Exynos powered units may have an unlocked bootloader whereas all the USA models are Snapdragon powered and locked with their bootloaders. I'll pass.

I work in IT and workload fluctuates greatly.. Right now, it's fairly quiet.. Might remain that way all year long as all the project funding is going to a project that my team is not part of. So, all we are doing right now is fixing so called "defects" on existing programs and processes... So, some days there's very little work.. Late last year, we had so much work that I couldn't even breathe....

Depends on what you are doing with your phone.. For gaming, the S8+ is sure worth it as it is pretty fast. If you just browse the web and watch videos, stick with the LG V10..

I read that the Exynos processor is not compatible with the US LTE bands.. Not sure if this is true.. The Exynos is the faster processor. It even outperformed the Apple Iphone 7 plus, hitting over 200000 score on ANTUTU Benchmark... My S8+ only hits 162000 which is just short of the Iphone 7 plus which scores 176000 or so...
I doubt that I'll get another phone any time soon. I will probably wait for 5G before getting my next device..
If it wasn't for Wifi calling, I would not have bought the S8+.. I was very happy with my huge Lenovo Phab 2 Pro...

The Samsung site says it doesn't recognize my IMEI or WIFI Mac Address as eligible. What's up with that????

NM, I typed in the wrong MAC Address.

Correct. The embedded modem does not include full US bands. That's why all US models have Snapdragon.

It'll be interesting to hear your long term review.

I carry an iPhone 6s Plus for work and have Galaxy 6 Edge Plus and now the S8+ for personal use. I much prefer my Samsungs to the iPhone.
